Located on a tranquil two-kilometre stretch of beach at Panti Moro, Mocean Beach Resort serves as a dedicated base for divers and surfers in West Sumbawa, Indonesia. The resort is positioned to provide direct access to the region's diverse marine environments, ranging from calm, sheltered bays to more active outer reefs.

Whether you are arriving by air via Sultan Muhammad Kaharuddin III Airport or by sea through the Poto Tano ferry port, the resort provides a seamless transition to the water. The setting is designed for those seeking a balance of adventure and comfort, with a focus on the local marine ecology and the surrounding natural landscape.

The dive centre operates as a PADI Dive Resort, prioritising a personalised approach to both training and fun diving. Safety and attention are central to their operation, with a strict ratio of a maximum of two certified divers per guide for courses, and no more than four divers per guide for fun dives.

In addition to standard recreational diving, the centre is involved in environmental initiatives such as Dive Against Debris. The team is equipped to handle everything from beginner Discover Scuba Diving sessions to professional PADI Divemaster training.

A comprehensive range of PADI courses is available on-site, catering to all levels of experience. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the PADI Open Water Diver course, while those looking to progress can enrol in PADI Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, or Divemaster programmes.

Specialised training is also offered to refine specific skills, including the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course, Drift Diving, and Night Diving. For younger divers, the PADI Junior Open Water course is available.

The resort operates a custom-built dive boat designed specifically for local conditions. It features a sun deck, providing a space to relax between dives or to observe the surface while transiting to the reefs.

This vessel is used for daily fun dives, night dives, and trips to the various reef systems in the area. The boat allows divers to reach the outer reefs where more significant currents and larger pelagics can be encountered.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit for divers who do not wish to travel with their own equipment. On-site facilities include individual storage lockers to keep your personal gear secure.

For underwater photographers, there is a dedicated air-conditioned camera room to protect sensitive equipment. The resort is also set up to support various diving activities, including night diving with torches and snorkeling.

The reefs are characterised by high biodiversity, with corals and various tropical fish providing a complex habitat. You will regularly encounter eagle rays, sea turtles, parrotfish, and black snappers moving amongst the reef structure.

Macro life is abundant, including various species of shrimp, crabs, and octopus. For those interested in smaller details, the reef flats and crevices host a variety of invertebrates and smaller reef inhabitants.

During certain times of the year, the waters become plankton-rich, which attracts larger pelagics. This is the primary driver for sightings of manta rays, including the resident Polong, as well as reef sharks.

The best time to visit is from April through October, when the waters are at their clearest and the weather is most stable. During this period, visibility typically ranges between 10 and 15 metres.

Diving conditions vary significantly depending on your chosen location. Sheltered bays offer calm, relaxed environments, while the outer reefs present stronger currents that are better suited to more experienced divers.
