Maleo Moyo Diving

Located at the edge of Labuan Aji village, Maleo Moyo Scuba Divers serves as a gateway to the marine protected area of Moyo Island. The centre is positioned just steps from the arrival jetty, providing immediate access to some of the region's most diverse underwater landscapes.

The area is defined by its healthy coral ecosystems and a variety of dive profiles, from shallow reef flats to dramatic walls. With a focus on local expertise and international standards, the resort provides a base for both recreational exploration and structured training.

This is a family-run operation that has been active in these waters since 2015. The team consists of both local and international experts who have developed a deep familiarity with the specific currents and marine life of the Moyo region.

Instruction and guiding are conducted in English, Indonesian, Dutch, and German. This multilingual approach ensures clear communication during briefings and throughout the diving experience, which is essential for safety and enjoyment.

As an SDI-affiliated centre, Maleo Moyo offers a comprehensive catalogue of courses. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Open Water Scuba Diver course, while those looking to progress can enrol in Advanced Adventure Diver, Deep Diver, or Navigation Diver programmes.

Specialised training is also available, including Advanced Buoyancy Control, Boat Diver, Wreck Diver, and Drift Diver courses. For those pursuing professional or advanced safety pathways, the centre provides Rescue Diver training and a combined CPR, First Aid, and Oxygen Provider course.

The centre provides a full range of equipment for hire, allowing you to travel light if you prefer. This includes regulators, wetsuits, fins, and masks.

Safety is a priority on-site, with oxygen availability maintained for dive emergencies. For those looking to refresh after a dive, the resort features a swimming pool and facilities to rinse your kit.

The reefs are home to a variety of large pelagics and reef species. You can regularly encounter sharks, including reef sharks, as well as turtles, manta rays, and eagle rays. Larger visitors like whale sharks may also be seen in the area.

The surrounding waters are populated by great barracuda, sea snakes, and octopus. Divers often spot various species of rays and turtles moving along the reef structures.

The ecosystem is supported by vibrant coral communities that provide habitat for a wide array of marine life. These healthy reefs act as a backdrop for the diverse fish populations found throughout the seven main dive sites.

The best time to dive in this region is from May to the beginning of December. During this period, the conditions are most favourable for marine exploration.

From December to the end of March, the monsoon season brings prevailing winds and unpredictable conditions. During these months, boat movements may be inconsistent, and it is recommended to book in advance to account for weather changes.
