Chinese options include cumin beef, muxu pork and gongbao chicken. Bread, bagels, banana bread and cinnamon rolls are made in the kitchen, and the smell of baking is part of the morning routine. American breakfast is available.

You can request a homemade pizza, ask for seafood bought from local markets and prepared the same day, or choose pork, chicken or fish from the rooftop grill. There is one seaside bar for drinks, plus room service when getting dressed for dinner feels like unnecessary exertion. Special-diet menus are available on request, and packed lunches can be arranged for a day away from the resort.

The training pool is the obvious place for a cooling dip or a quiet hour with a book. It is functional rather than theatrical, and that is perfectly acceptable after a demanding day in the water. Pool and beach towels are available, while the sun terrace gives you another spot to dry off and watch the light change over the coast.

Massage and spa and wellness facilities are available when your shoulders have started to object to carrying dive equipment. You can also use the beach directly outside, arrange water activities or go snorkelling. For something away from the shoreline, the resort can organise excursions to Verde Island or Calapan, and the tour desk can help with arrangements.

Hiking and fishing are available away from the property. The journey from Manila is part road trip, part ferry crossing. A private option can take you by van from the airport or Manila to a private beach, followed by a direct water taxi to the resort. A semi-private route uses a van to Batangas ferry terminal, a pre-booked ferry to Balatero port and then a tuk-tuk to Sabang. Public transport combines a taxi or Grab, a bus to Batangas Pier, the ferry to Balatero and a tuk-tuk for the final leg.

An airport shuttle is available on request, and transfer arrangements can be made around your arrival. Check-in starts from 14:00. Check-out runs from 11:00 to 12:00, so the timing is worth matching to the boat and ferry schedule rather than leaving it until the last morning.

The front desk operates around the clock, with a tour desk, currency exchange and car hire available. WiFi is free throughout the property. Laundry, ironing, room service, packed lunches and a minimarket are useful extras when your timetable is governed by tides, boats and the occasional wet towel.
