The marine life around Gran Canaria is remarkably diverse, particularly around the reefs and volcanic structures. You can expect to encounter various species of turtles, including Loggerhead sea turtles, Green sea turtles, Hawksbill turtles, and Leatherback turtles. Large pelagics are also a highlight, with sightings of hammerhead sharks, Blue sharks, and Shortfin mako sharks.

On the sandy bottoms and reef edges, you will find a variety of rays, such as Southern stingrays (Hypanus americanus), Electric rays (Torpedinidae), Butterfly rays, and Eagle rays (Aetobatus). Angel sharks (Squatina) are a particular highlight, especially from late October through the spring.

Diving at El Cabron can be influenced by seasonal weather; summer months often bring stronger winds and rougher seas, whereas winter tends to offer calmer conditions. The area is also subject to unpredictable tides and can experience strong currents.

Punta de la Sal and The Bath Tub are known for having strong currents, and The Bath Tub may require a surface swim against a current to reach the site. Divers should be prepared for potentially challenging conditions at these locations.
