Servatur Green Beach suits you if you want a straightforward base with space to sit, prepare something simple to eat and watch the sea without paying for a formal hotel routine.

The setting works particularly well for couples and for divers who prefer an apartment layout to a conventional bedroom. You have a living area with seating and a sofa, a dining area, a kitchenette and free WiFi throughout the hotel. It is practical rather than theatrical. After a day in the water, that is often exactly the point.

You are in La Playa de Arguineguín, in southern Gran Canaria, with direct access to the beach and Playa de Patalavaca around 50 metres away. Anfi Beach is roughly 0.7 miles away, while Costa Alegre and Playa Las Marañuelas are both within about 0.7 miles. Playa Arguineguín is around 1.2 miles away, giving you several stretches of coast to choose from without turning every outing into an expedition.

The immediate area has places to eat and drink within walking distance, including Restaurante Cabosuroeste around 500 feet away and Restaurante Slow Boat roughly 750 feet away. Kai Club is also about 750 feet away. For a change of scene, Maspalomas Lighthouse is around 8 miles away by road and the botanical park at Maspalomas is about the same distance.

Gran Canaria Airport is around 20 miles from the property as the location distance is given, with the road journey longer. A hire car is available through the hotel, but you should plan the arrival rather than assuming that parking will sort itself out.

The apartment layout is the useful distinction here. You have a separate living and dining feel rather than a bed taking over the whole room, plus a kitchenette with a refrigerator, microwave, hob, toaster, kettle, coffee machine and basic kitchenware. That gives you somewhere to put drinks, fruit and the food you inevitably buy after a day of diving. A small dining table is more civilised than eating over a suitcase.

Sea views are available across several categories. Choose a full sea view if the outlook matters to you; the high-floor options are the natural choice when you want to sit above the immediate pool activity, while the low-floor terrace apartments suit you if outdoor space and quick access matter more. Some apartments have a private terrace with direct access to the pool, which is convenient but less suited to anyone who wants a completely private outdoor corner.

The apartments are designed for up to three guests and each has one bathroom. You get a shower, towels, toiletries, hairdryer, wardrobe and a flat-screen television. Plan for warm-weather ventilation rather than air conditioning: Premium Apartments have a standing fan. That is a detail worth taking seriously in southern Gran Canaria, particularly if you sleep better in a cooler room after a long day in a wetsuit.

Food is available on site from breakfast through dinner. Breakfast is continental and buffet-style, while the restaurant also serves lunch and dinner. The kitchen in your apartment gives you a second option for coffee, a simple meal or keeping something cold without having to dress for the restaurant. A useful choice when your appetite is large but your enthusiasm for ceremony has gone missing.

There is a bar and a snack bar, including a pool bar open from 11:30 to 17:30. You can therefore stay close to the water for a drink or a snack rather than making the full journey back to the apartment every time. The restaurant has an outdoor dining area, and the evening setting includes candlelit meals with ocean sunsets in view.

Live music and performances are part of the offer, with a piano bar for later in the evening. If you choose half-board, drinks with dinner are not included, so factor that into the way you prefer to eat and drink rather than discovering it when the bill arrives.

The main recovery station is the outdoor pool, with sun loungers, beach chairs, umbrellas and a solarium around it. The adult pool is heated all year round, which is handy when your muscles have had enough of the Atlantic for one day. Some apartments open directly onto the pool area, so the distance between your room and a horizontal position is pleasingly short.

For a slower afternoon, there is an open-air bath and a hot tub or Jacuzzi. Massages are available, giving you an option beyond lying still and claiming that it is a treatment. The beach is directly accessible from the property, with loungers and parasols available for time beside the sea rather than in it.

The evening can stay low-key: a drink at the bar, live music or a meal outside while the sun goes down. If you would rather explore, the nearby beaches and the Maspalomas area give you a reason to leave the pool without requiring a full day away from the hotel.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to midnight and check-out from 07:00 to 11:00. You need photo identification and a payment card at arrival, and you should tell the hotel when you expect to arrive. A refundable damage deposit is collected by card on arrival and returned after the accommodation has been checked.

The reception is open around the clock. Luggage storage, car hire and currency exchange are available, and laundry is offered as a chargeable service. The hotel has a lift serving the upper floors, free WiFi in all areas and a small minimarket on site. Those details matter when you arrive late, need breakfast supplies or would rather not go searching for basics after diving.

Children of any age are welcome, but cots and extra beds are not available. Pets are not allowed. The accommodation accepts cash, and the apartments are non-smoking. For the airport journey, arrange your transfer or hire car before arrival; the hotel is around 20 miles from Gran Canaria Airport, and the road distance is greater than the straight-line figure.
