Diving Atlantis

Located in the heart of Los Cristianos in southern Tenerife, Diving Atlantis has been operating since 2013. The centre moved to its current location in 2017 to provide much easier access to the water, situated directly opposite the beach.

The centre serves as a hub for both shore-based diving and boat excursions, catering to those looking to explore the island's volcanic formations, underwater caves, and various wreck sites. Whether you are looking for a relaxed reef dive or a more technical challenge, the setup is designed to accommodate a variety of diving styles.

The team consists of qualified instructors capable of conducting a full spectrum of PADI courses. They offer instruction in several languages, including English, Spanish, German, French, Russian, and Polish, ensuring clear communication during briefings and training sessions.

Safety and professional development are central to their operation, with a guide-to-diver ratio of two divers per guide. For those looking to pursue a career in diving, the centre offers Divemaster training and provides assistance for trainees looking to secure local accommodation in Costa Silencio.

Diving Atlantis offers a comprehensive range of PADI training, starting with the Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver courses. For those looking to progress, they provide Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Diver, and Wreck Diver specialties.

Technical and professional training is also available, including Nitrox, Sidemount, and the PADI Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) Diver course. The centre also conducts Rescue Diver and Divemaster programmes, as well as EFR training.

The centre operates two boats for offshore excursions. These trips allow you to reach more remote sites around the island, including the volcanic landscapes near Los Gigantes and the wreck sites off the coast.

Nitrox is available for boat dives, allowing for extended bottom times on deeper excursions. The boats depart from Puerto Colon, with transfers organized to ensure you reach the departure point easily.

The centre provides full equipment hire for divers who prefer not to travel with their own kit. This includes all necessary components for a complete dive rig, and dive computers are available for daily hire.

On-site facilities include a large terrace overlooking the sea, which serves as a space for pre-dive preparation and post-dive relaxation. There is also a dedicated shop and areas available for rinsing and storing your own equipment.

The volcanic reefs and seagrass meadows are home to a vast array of marine life. You will frequently encounter various species of rays, including stingrays, bull rays, butterfly rays, and Atlantic stingrays, alongside angel sharks (Squatina). Schools of fish are a constant presence, including snapper (Lutjanus), grouper (Epinephelus), and various colourful reef fish.

In the deeper waters and near the volcanic structures, larger pelagics can be spotted, such as eagle rays (Aetobatus), dolphins (Delphinidae), and whales. You may also see sea turtles (Cheloniidae) patrolling the reefs.

For those interested in macro life, the crevices and corals host many interesting species. Look for octopus (Octopus vulgaris), cuttlefish (Sepiidae), moray eels (Muraenidae), and various crustaceans including crabs (Brachyura) and shrimp (Caridea). The seabed also features sea anemones (Actiniaria), starfish (Asteroidea), and several species of nudibranchs.

Diving in Tenerife is possible year-round, with water temperatures ranging from 20°C to 29°C. The variety of sites means you can choose between sheltered shore dives or more exposed boat excursions depending on the day's conditions.
