Las Terrazas de Abama Suites is built for travellers who prefer room to breathe rather than a standard hotel room with a chair placed carefully in the corner. Set within the Abama Golf Course, the property combines landscaped gardens, sea views and large suites with the practical comfort of a proper living space and kitchen.

You can choose the place for a couple, with a one-bedroom suite and either a sea view or partial sea view, or make use of the larger layouts when family or friends come along. Some suites also add a jacuzzi. The atmosphere is polished but not fussy: a terrace, a pool, gardens and several places to eat give you options without requiring you to leave the complex every evening.

The hotel website is available in English, German, Spanish and French. That makes planning and pre-arrival arrangements easier, even though no hotel staff language is recorded here.

Your base is in Guía de Isora, on Tenerife, at C/ Pino Ojeda 4, within the Abama complex. This is not a hotel directly on a public town beach: Playa del Barranco de Erques is the nearest listed beach, around 1.7 miles away on foot, with a drive of roughly 4.4 miles. A transfer to the beach is available within the property’s services, and beach loungers and parasols are provided.

The setting is more resort than village high street. You have the Abama Golf Course and gardens around you, with views towards La Gomera and the Teide Volcano. For a meal beyond the complex, Txoko is about 0.6 miles away on foot, while M.B. de Martín Berasategui and El Mirador are each around 1 mile away on foot.

The wider area works well if you have a car or are happy to use organised outings. Tenerife South Airport is around 22 miles away by road, and Puerto de la Cruz is 23 miles from the property. Teide National Park is listed at around 1.4 miles by road, although the practical route and terrain matter more than the number on the map.

These are suites rather than merely enlarged bedrooms. Every suite has air conditioning, a terrace, a dining area, a living space with satellite flat-screen television and a kitchen equipped with a dishwasher, oven, microwave, refrigerator and kettle. That matters when you return hungry, sun-warmed and not especially interested in dressing for dinner: you can eat in, keep drinks cold and spread out properly.

For two people, the one-bedroom suites keep the arrangement straightforward. Choose a sea view when the outlook is part of the reason for coming; the partial sea-view option still gives you a full suite layout without paying for a view you may not use much. Couples who like an outdoor soak can look at the jacuzzi categories. The larger two-, three- and four-bedroom suites are the sensible choice for families or a group of divers travelling together, with several bathrooms in the bigger layouts and enough separate living space to avoid turning the evening into a negotiation over one sofa.

Terraces give you somewhere to sit with a coffee or a glass of wine, while soundproof rooms and air conditioning are useful when your body is asking for a quiet night rather than another activity. Daily housekeeping, room service and free WiFi cover the unglamorous but useful parts of staying somewhere for more than a few nights. Cots can be requested for children aged from birth to two years; extra beds are not available.

The choice is unusually broad for a suite property. Five restaurants are listed on site, with the main meal rhythm split between breakfast, lunch and dinner venues rather than a single dining room doing everything. Breakfast is a buffet with continental, American, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options, so you can keep it simple or build the sort of plate that suggests the day will involve more walking than planned.

Atlántico Restaurant serves Mediterranean and Spanish cooking on a terrace for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Tágara follows a Canarian direction with a contemporary approach and also covers all three main meals. For dinner, Melvin Restaurant brings signature cooking created by Spanish chef Martín Berasategui, whose restaurants hold twelve Michelin stars between them. The connection is useful context, not a command to wear a dinner jacket and discuss foam.

Pool Bar Sunway serves Mediterranean appetisers and cocktails beside the pool. Zumeria Bar focuses on freshly prepared juices and smoothies, while Ambar Gastro Bar is the place for a drink with the sunset at the centre of the plan. A snack bar, coffee house, room service, a minimarket and a gourmet shop selling local artisan products and wines add flexibility. Half board covers breakfast and dinner; drinks are not included.

The infinity pool gives you the obvious post-dive option: get horizontal, find a sun lounger and let the day finish without another timetable. Gardens, terraces, a sun terrace, outdoor seating and a picnic area provide several settings for doing very little, which is an activity often underrated by people who have spent an hour carrying cylinders around.

For more deliberate recovery, Sandára Wellness & Spa is located at Plaza de Abama, in Los Jardines de Abama Suites & Villas. Its treatments include massage, facials, hammam, sauna, jacuzzi, mud baths, body wraps, body scrubs and other body treatments, with Anne Semonin and Mesoestetic products. Couples massage is available, as are spa packages and a relaxation lounge. A fitness centre, yoga, meditation and Pilates give you gentler ways to move without pretending that every holiday needs a personal challenge.

There is plenty for a non-diving partner to fill a day. Tennis, golf, cycling, boat outings and excursions are available, with organised trips covering islands, waterfalls, markets and snorkelling. Live music and temporary art galleries add something for the evening, while families have a kids’ club, a children’s pool and babysitting or child services.

Tenerife South Airport is the practical arrival point, around 22 miles from the hotel by road, with a driving time of roughly 32 minutes. An airport shuttle is available and can be arranged with the hotel. Car hire is also available, which may suit you if you plan to explore beaches, Teide or the wider island rather than stay within the Abama complex.

Check-in runs from 16:00 to midnight and check-out from midnight to 12:00. You need to present photo identification and a credit card at arrival, and the hotel asks you to share your expected arrival time in advance. The minimum age for check-in is 18.

Free private parking is available on site without a reservation, and WiFi is free throughout the hotel. A 24-hour reception, concierge service, tour desk, luggage storage and lockers cover the practical edges of a stay. Facilities include wheelchair access, accessible bathrooms and a lift. Pets are not allowed.
