Camping L'Ile D'Or is a seaside camping estate in Saint-Raphaël, built into a green hillside above the Mediterranean and facing Île d'Or. You stay in a mobile home rather than a conventional hotel room, with space to cook, eat and spread out properly. That matters when your day involves wet towels, sandy feet and the familiar question of where to put everything down.

The place suits couples who want the coast close by and families who will make use of the pools, playground and sports areas. The atmosphere is shaped by the sea, the red rocks of the Esterel and the estate's evening entertainment in July and August. There are themed musical evenings and night-time pool sessions in high season, while Le Kub keeps its own evening programme going without turning the whole stay into a compulsory party.

You will also have an English-speaking reception team, alongside French and Spanish. That is useful for practical matters, local suggestions and the occasional discussion about where the next day's coastal excursion actually starts.

The address is on Route de la Corniche in Saint-Raphaël, in the Var, not in Ramatuelle. The estate stands by the sea, around 4.3 miles from Saint-Raphaël and 2.2 miles from Agay, with the Esterel Massif and its red-rock coastline close at hand. Cannes is within reach for a day out, while the wider area opens towards Sainte-Maxime, Saint-Tropez, Fréjus and the Mediterranean coast.

You can reach the nearby beaches without taking the car. Pierre Blave Beach is roughly 250 metres away, Garde Vieille Beach about 350 metres, and Aiguebonne Beach around 400 metres. The beach access is described as a 5- to 10-minute walk, while the larger beach at Dramont is about half a mile away. Several coves and calanques can be explored along the coast road towards Cannes.

Le Dramont railway station is about 0.6 miles away, and Port de Boulouris station is around 1.5 miles away. Saint-Raphaël/Valescure TGV station is 4.3 miles from the estate. Nice Côte d'Azur Airport is 42 miles away, with the airport route described at roughly 67 kilometres. The A8 motorway exit at Fréjus is about 5.6 miles away.

The accommodation is arranged as a mobile home with two bedrooms and a living room, making it a sensible choice when you want separate sleeping space rather than a single room with an extra bed pushed into a corner. Family rooms are available, and the living area gives you somewhere to sit and eat instead of treating the terrace as your only usable surface.

Sea views are part of the appeal, although the exact outlook depends on the accommodation. Choose this style of stay if you value a kitchenette and outdoor space over hotel-style service. The kitchen includes a refrigerator, oven, microwave, hob, dishwasher, toaster, coffee machine, kettle and kitchenware. After a full day outside, that gives you the option of a proper meal, a quick breakfast or simply cold drinks ready when you get back.

Air conditioning, heating and a fan cover different weather moods, while the private bathroom has a shower or bath, toilet and hairdryer. There is also a dining area, seating area, sofa bed, wardrobe and drying rack for clothing. The terrace comes with outdoor furniture and a barbecue. Le Kub is the main address for eating and drinking on site. Its roof terrace looks over the Mediterranean, and the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7:30 until midnight. The cooking is varied and traditional, made in-house, with grilled fish, grilled meat, salads and other Mediterranean-style dishes. It is the sort of menu that gives you room to choose between a serious meal and something that will not demand much thought after a long day outdoors.

The restaurant also hosts evening entertainment. In July and August, themed or DJ evenings are scheduled every night until 31 August, or three times a week outside the busiest period. The practical point is simple: you can eat without leaving the estate, then stay for a drink while the evening carries on around you.

There is a bar attached to Le Kub, serving cocktails and ice creams during the day and evening, with the sunset as part of the view. A second Guinguette/Snack/Rooftop venue is also listed, giving you a lighter option on site. Your mobile home has its own dining area and a complete kitchenette, while the estate also has an épicerie for everyday supplies. There is no room service, so the kitchen is more than decorative.

The heated outdoor aquatic area is the obvious place to recover without doing anything heroic. It includes a large pool kept between 26 and 28°C, sun loungers, parasols, water slides and a playful paddling pool for younger children. The pool area sits close to the bar and restaurant, with views towards Île d'Or and the Mediterranean. There is also a heated bubble bath within the aquatic area.

If you still have energy after the sea, the estate offers a fitness park, tennis, padel, pétanque, table tennis, table football and a City Stade for ball games. Bicycles are available for hire, and the surrounding area lends itself to walking and coastal routes. Kayaking and paddleboarding are available, with equipment hire also offered. In other words, you can keep moving without turning your holiday into an amateur training camp.

Families have a dedicated playground with slides, climbing features, spring animals, a playhouse and an inflatable castle structure. The Accro-games includes a two-level giant trampoline. Nearby options include an aquatic leisure park, horse-riding with rides through the Esterel calanques, paintball, buggy hire, canyoning, climbing and electric buggies. The concierge can advise on excursions, including Saint-Raphaël, the coastal towns, Provençal markets, the Sentier du Littoral, the Gorges du Verdon, Nice, Monaco and Italy.

This is a seasonal estate, open from 1 April to 31 October. Reception operates from 8:00 to 20:00 during that period. Check-in starts at 16:00, and you should give your expected arrival time in advance; the booking policy gives an arrival window of 16:00 to 18:00. Free private parking is available on site and does not require reservation. Wi-Fi is free throughout the estate, and laundry facilities are available. An on-site épicerie covers basic needs, while larger shops are within 5 km. The property is subject to accessibility requirements for guests with reduced mobility. Children of all ages are welcome, but cots and extra beds are not available.

Smoking is not allowed, pets are not allowed and parties or similar events are not permitted. Airport transfers are not listed as an on-site service, so you should organise your route from Nice Côte d'Azur Airport or travel by car or train.
