Maiuru, Fakarava: Reef Flat and Wall Diving in Tuamotu

Diving Maiuru in Fakarava begins on a superb reef-flat situated just to the left as you navigate out of the pass. This initial plateau, found around 20 metres, presents a unique topography featuring channelled reef sections. The current here can be unpredictable, requiring vigilance from the moment you descend into its embrace, making every transition an active part of the dive.

The reef-flat itself is a tapestry of coral diversity. You'll move slowly, letting the current guide you, past intricate formations, notably fields of acropora, also known as table corals, their broad plates creating shelters and feeding grounds.
