Pacific Blue Adventure

Pacific Blue Adventure has been a fixture of the Huahine diving scene since 1990. As the island's first dedicated dive centre, it has spent decades navigating the waters of the Society Islands, offering a gateway to an island that remains remarkably authentic and free from mass tourism.

The centre is conveniently situated on the quay in Fare, the island's main village. This location places you within easy reach of the airport, local shops, restaurants, and the various family pensions and high-end hotels that dot the island.

The team is led by Carina, who manages all reservations and guest reception, ensuring a smooth transition from your arrival to your time on the water. Diving operations are overseen by Jordan, the centre's instructor, who guides divers through the various underwater landscapes of Huahine.

Whether you are looking for a relaxed introductory dive in the lagoon or a more technical exploration of the outer reefs, the team provides instruction tailored to your specific certification level and experience.

The centre caters to a wide spectrum of divers, from those looking to experience the underwater world for the first time through introductory dives to experienced divers seeking exploration. While specific course titles are not listed, the centre is equipped to handle a variety of training needs and guided explorations.

The Haumanarii is the centre's dedicated dive vessel, powered by a reliable Yamaha 250 CV 4-stroke engine. It is designed for comfort and efficiency, ensuring you reach the dive sites quickly, with the closest locations only a 10-minute boat ride away.

The boat is well-equipped for divers, featuring a bimini for sun protection, seating areas, two dive ladders, and dedicated cylinder racks. Most sites are reachable within 30 minutes of departing from the quay.

For those who prefer not to carry their own heavy equipment, the centre provides a full range of rental kit. This includes Scubapro BCDs (stab jackets) and regulators, alongside 3mm wetsuits to keep you comfortable during your dives.

All diving activities are organised from the base at the Fare quay, making it easy to manage your kit before heading out to the boat.

The marine life at Huahine is exceptionally diverse, with around 450 species of fish inhabiting the lagoon. On the outer reefs and passes, you can encounter larger pelagics including grey reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks, and blacktip reef sharks. Schools of barracudas, jacks, and bigeye trevallies are common, alongside dogtooth tuna and bonitos.

In the shallower areas and lagoon plateaus, look for sea turtles (Cheloniidae), clownfish (Amphiprion), and various triggerfish (Balistidae). You will also find moray eels (Muraenidae), groupers, and various reef fish patrolling the coral gardens.

For those interested in macro life, the reefs are home to a variety of nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), shrimp (Caridea), and scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae). You can also find pipefishes, leaf fish, and various crustaceans among the corals and sponges.

Between July and November, the area becomes a destination for whale watching, offering the chance to see whales in their natural habitat.

Diving conditions in Huahine vary significantly depending on the specific site. The lagoon plateaus, such as Le plateau de Fare, offer calm, current-free waters ideal for beginners, while the passes can experience variable and sometimes strong currents.

Swell and local conditions can affect accessibility to certain sites, particularly the passes. It is always best to check with the team on the day to see which sites are most suitable for the current sea state.
