Club Ras Soma Diving Center

Club Ras Soma Diving Center is established as a major diving operation within the ROBINSON SOMA BAY complex, situated approximately 45 minutes from Hurghada airport. Positioned between the desert and the Red Sea, the centre benefits from a prime location with a sandy beach that leads straight into a fascinating reef system.

As an SSI Instructor Training Diamond Center, the facility is geared towards high-standard instruction and professional development. Whether you are looking for a holiday dive programme or working towards professional certifications, the centre is set up to handle a high volume of divers while maintaining a focus on the local marine environment.

The centre operates with a professional team capable of delivering instruction in English, German, and Arabic. This multilingual approach ensures that technical details and safety briefings are clearly understood by a diverse range of international divers.

Training is available for all ages, including dedicated programmes for Junior Open Water Divers starting from 8 years old. The centre is also equipped to accommodate divers with reduced mobility, ensuring the Red Sea is accessible to more people.

As an Instructor Training Diamond Center, the facility is a hub for those pursuing professional paths. You can progress through the SSI hierarchy from Divemaster up to instructor-level training on-site.

The training catalogue is extensive, covering the full spectrum of SSI certifications. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver and move through to Advanced Open Water Diver, while younger divers can undertake the Junior Open Water Diver course.

The reef slope and surrounding areas are home to a vast array of colourful reef fish. You will regularly see schools of Anthias (Anthias), sergeant majors, and various species of damselfish (Pomacentridae). Larger pelagics and predators, such as Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), tuna (Thunnus), and jack (Carangidae), move through the water column.

In the coral structures, you can find a variety of reef fish including parrotfish (Calotomus), butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and surgeonfish (Acanthuridae). Turtles and various species of moray eel (Muraenidae) are also common sights around the reef flat and the edges of the wall.

The hard corals and soft corals provide a complex habitat for smaller creatures. Keep an eye out for stonefish (Synanceia), scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), and various species of clownfish near sea anemones. You may also encounter octopus (Octopus vulgaris) and blue-spotted stingrays hiding in the crevices.

For those interested in macro life, the area hosts nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), various flatworms (Turbellaria), and different types of shrimp and small reef fish. Whitetip reef sharks (Carcharhinus) are also known to frequent the area, adding to the excitement of a deeper dive.
