Aquanauts Dive Adventures

Located in the fishing village of Puerto Morelos, this dive resort sits within a protected national park. It provides direct access to the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second largest reef system in the world.

Since 2007, this family-run operation has been a staple of the local diving community. The centre operates with an old-school approach, prioritising safety and conservation to ensure every diver leaves as an ambassador for the ocean.

The centre is managed by a local Mexican family and has been operating for 17 years. This long-standing presence in Puerto Morelos provides a deep understanding of the local marine ecosystems and currents.

The team is composed of local professionals who speak both English and Spanish. This allows for clear communication and instruction for international divers seeking a professional, educational experience.

Aquanauts Dive Adventures offers a comprehensive range of training through PADI and SSI. You can begin your journey with the Discover Scuba Diving program or work towards your PADI Open Water Diver certification.

For more advanced divers, the centre provides Nitrox training. The PADI Open Water Diver course can be completed over two full days or spread across three or four days, with E-Learning recommended prior to starting practical training.

The centre is fully equipped for both recreational and technical diving needs. Nitrox (32%) is available for certified divers via on-site cylinder fills.

For those looking to rent, a full range of kit is available on-site, including regulators, fins, masks, and wetsuits.

The reef ecosystems are defined by vibrant corals and various fish species. You will encounter diverse life including Grouper (Epinephelinae), Barracuda (Sphyraena), and schools of trevallies.

In the deeper waters and along the walls, you can find larger pelagics and rays. This includes the Southern stingray (Hypanus americanus) and the Eagle ray (Aetobatus).

Seasonal visitors include the Whale shark during the summer months and the Bull shark during the winter.

In the freshwater cenotes, you can observe various small freshwater creatures amidst the submerged jungle roots.

Conditions vary depending on the site selected. The local Puerto Morelos reefs typically offer low currents, whereas the walls of Cozumel are known for having strong currents.
