Wet Set Diving Adventures

Wet Set Diving Adventures has been a fixture of the Puerto Morelos diving community since 1997. As one of the few PADI 5 Star centres in the town, they have built a reputation based on a disciplined approach to safety and a commitment to the local marine environment.

The centre is positioned just 50 paces from the water, making the transition from the shop to the boat incredibly efficient. Whether you are looking to explore the local reef flat, descend into the Yucatan Peninsula's freshwater cenotes, or take a boat out to the Cozumel walls, the logistics are handled with professional precision.

The centre is led by owner Dave Tossi, a PADI Master Scuba Diver with over 40 years of experience, including training at the West Point Military Academy. This background brings a structured, procedure-driven approach to every dive, ensuring that safety remains the primary focus for all guests.

The entire team is PADI certified and undergoes annual training in CPR and safety protocols. To maintain a high standard of instruction and safety, the centre operates with small groups, limiting the number of divers to a maximum of 6 per guide.

Beyond technical skill, the team is deeply involved in reef conservation. They actively participate in 'Dive Against Debris' initiatives and controlled lionfish removal, ensuring that the local ecosystem remains healthy for future generations of divers.

The training programme is comprehensive, covering everything from the initial PADI Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver courses to advanced certifications. For those looking to refine their skills, they offer PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Navigator, and Night Diver courses.

Specialised training is also available for divers looking to expand their horizons, including PADI Wreck Diver, Deep Diver, Drift Diver, and Sidemount Diver. For those interested in the technical or environmental side of the sport, they offer PADI Project AWARE Specialist and Dive Against Debris courses.

The centre provides a full range of rental equipment, including regulators, wetsuits, and fins. For those diving at night, torches are available, and every diver hiring kit is provided with a dive computer to ensure accurate monitoring of depth and no-decompression limits.

Wet Set operates a 'white glove' service, meaning the staff handles the heavy lifting. They manage the transport, assembly, and rinsing of your kit, so you can focus entirely on your dive. Nitrox is available for all certified divers, and the centre maintains a full supply of emergency oxygen and first aid kits on site.

The local reefs are teeming with life, including parrotfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, and rainbowfish. You will frequently encounter sea turtles and various species of rays, such as eagle rays, patrolling the reef and sandy patches.

Macro life and smaller inhabitants are abundant throughout the park, with octopus, lobsters, and crabs found amongst the coral and crevices. The reef structure itself is built upon a foundation of beautiful corals and Sea fan (Gorgoniidae).

During the months of November to February, the area offers the chance to see bull sharks in their natural habitat. For those diving the Cozumel walls, the splendid toadfish is a notable species to look out for.

Diving in the area is influenced by the local marine park regulations and the geography of the reef system. The Puerto Morelos reef provides a variety of environments, including drift dives where currents can play a role in the experience.

Cenote diving offers a different set of conditions, with freshwater environments and unique cavern layouts that require careful navigation. Most boat dives to the local reefs are short, typically taking only 10 to 20 minutes to reach the sites.
