Gunter's Dive Center

Gunter's Dive Center, formerly known as D'divers at the Pearl Bay Busuanga, has been a fixture of the Coron diving scene since 1989. As the first professional dive centre in the area, it has spent over three decades refining its approach to both recreational and technical diving.

The centre is situated in Busuanga, Palawan, placing you in a prime position to explore the famous local wrecks. While many divers stay in Coron, being based here allows you to reach the closest sites in just five minutes, with even the more distant wrecks only a 45-minute boat ride away.

The team operates with a focus on high-quality education and international standards. All instructors are certified through SDI and TDI, ensuring that training—whether for a first Open Water course or advanced technical specialties—is consistent and professional.

The atmosphere is designed to be relaxed and fun, yet the instruction remains rigorous. This balance makes it a suitable environment for those progressing through the recreational stages or those pursuing professional pathways like the Divemaster Leadership Course or Instructor training.

The course catalogue is extensive, covering the entire spectrum from Discover Scuba Diving to professional instructor levels. For recreational divers, the centre offers Open Water, Advanced Adventure Diver, Deep Diver, and Rescue Diver courses.

For those moving into technical diving, the SDI/TDI affiliation provides a robust curriculum. This includes Nitrox (including Advanced and Gas Blender), Decompression Procedures, Wreck Diver, Advanced Wreck Diver, and Extended Range Diver. The centre also supports professional development with SDI Open Water Instructor and IDC Course Director programmes, alongside TDI technical instructor ratings.

The centre is located within the Marina del Sol Resort & Yacht Club, which features a swimming pool available for training purposes. This freshwater facility is particularly useful for conducting skills sessions or buoyancy work before heading out to the wrecks.

Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom time on the wrecks. The centre maintains a stock of quality equipment to support its training programmes and daily excursions.

The wrecks and surrounding reefs host a variety of large pelagics and reef residents. You may encounter Great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), various species of turtles, and large schools of fish. Angelfish (Pomacanthidae) and Butterflyfish (Chaetodon) are frequently seen patrolling the structures.

The reef architecture is built upon a foundation of hard corals and diverse coral formations, providing essential habitat for rabbitfish and other reef fish. You might also spot venomous sea snakes in the vicinity.

For those interested in smaller inhabitants, the area supports a range of crustaceans including various shrimp (Caridea). The complex structures of the wrecks and the reef flat provide plenty of crevices for reef fish to inhabit.
