Bohol Beach Club

Bohol Beach Club is a waterfront resort with its own private beach, leafy gardens and rooms designed to give you somewhere cool to return to between outings. It suits divers looking for a well-organised hotel without having to sleep in the middle of Alona Beach's activity.

The sea is the main feature, but the atmosphere does not feel like a holiday village running at full volume all day. You have an outdoor pool, a restaurant, a bar and several places to settle down with a book, a coffee or simply your sunglasses. The reception is open 24 hours a day, which is useful for late arrivals and late returns.

For a stay as a couple, the focus is mainly on the beach, meals on site and massages. Families get rather more from the facilities, with a kids' club, children's pool, games room and playground all available.

The hotel is in Panglao, on Bohol island, directly on a private white-sand beach. Dumaluan Beach is approximately 164 feet away, while Libaong White Beach is about 0.6 miles away. Here, the beach is not something you need to drive to after checking in: it starts in front of the resort.

Alona Beach is approximately 1.9 miles away. You will find more places there for a drink or a change of restaurant, but you will also be leaving the relative quiet of Bohol Beach Club. Nearby restaurants include Bagobo Restaurant, about 1.2 miles away, and Chicken Ati-Atihan, about 0.9 miles away; Gin Wine Bar is approximately 1.9 miles away.

Bohol-Panglao International Airport is approximately 3.1 miles away. To reach Panglao's main activity areas, a car or shuttle will be more practical than a long walk along the road.

The air-conditioned rooms have a private entrance, seating area, desk, electronic safe and flat-screen TV with cable and satellite channels. Balconies overlook the sea in the relevant categories, while some rooms face the garden. For diving holidays, this practical layout matters more than elaborate decoration: you can come back, switch on the air conditioning and settle in without needing to go straight out again.

The Suite is the sensible choice if you are travelling as three or want proper room around your bags and clothes. For two people, a Deluxe room with two double beds gives you a straightforward sleeping arrangement without negotiating over bed space in the night. Deluxe Green follows the same idea, with a garden-focused atmosphere.

The private bathroom includes a shower, hairdryer, towels, slippers and toiletries. A kettle lets you make tea or coffee, while a clothes drying rack is useful in a climate where swimwear never stays properly dry for long. Housekeeping is daily, and laundry and room service are also available.

Agotata serves breakfast, lunch and dinner from 6am to 10pm. The morning buffet gives you a straightforward start to a diving day without waiting for an outside venue to open. The menu combines Filipino specialities with international dishes, including adobo, crispy pata, local grilled dishes, pasta, steaks, seafood and poultry.

The on-site offer includes a restaurant, an integrated bar and a snack bar. The bar serves cocktails, fresh fruit juices, wine and various alcoholic drinks, so you can carry on with the evening without getting back in a vehicle. The snack bar is useful when a full meal feels too much straight after coming out of the water.

Room service runs from 6am to 10pm. Agotata also highlights the BBC Burger and BBC Ice Cream, two house specialities for evenings when you want to eat without setting off on a full-scale food expedition.

The private beach provides the obvious plan, with sun loungers, parasols, water and white sand. You can also sit on the terrace or in the gardens, then move to the outdoor pool when the sea is not your priority. Pool and beach towels are available on site.

If you want to recover without putting a wetsuit back on, you can book body, back, neck, foot, head, hand or couples' massages. A gym adds a straightforward exercise space. This is not a timetable of classes to work through; it simply gives you somewhere to move a little or loosen your shoulders between dives.

On days without a boat trip, you can be more active with canoeing, windsurfing, snorkelling, hiking, table tennis or billiards. The hotel also arranges trips to the Chocolate Hills, tarsier-watching excursions and a cruise on the Loboc River. Evening entertainment and a games room provide another option when night falls early.

Check-in is from 2pm and check-out is by noon. The 24-hour reception, luggage storage and private check-in or check-out are useful if you arrive late or have an early flight. A wake-up service is also available.

The hotel can arrange an airport transfer by shuttle or according to the option offered when you book. Car hire, the tour desk and laundry service make it easier to plan a more independent stay. Private parking on site is free and does not need to be reserved.

Wi-Fi is available free of charge throughout the property. There is an on-site infirmary, and the hotel is accessible to guests with reduced mobility. Children of all ages are welcome; a cot can be requested for children aged 0 to 2, while no extra beds are available. Pets are allowed on request.
