Dive Point Samui

For Discover Scuba Diving experiences, the ratio is kept to a maximum of two students per instructor, while standard PADI courses are conducted with a maximum of four divers per guide. The marine life in the Gulf of Thailand is exceptionally diverse, particularly around the pinnacles and reef flats. You will frequently encounter large schools of fish, including fusiliers (Caesio), jacks (Carangidae), and various species of snapper (Lutjanidae). Larger pelagic visitors such as barracuda (Sphyraena) and trevally are common, and you may occasionally see blacktip reef sharks (Carcharhinus melanopterus) or even a whale shark (Rhincodon typus) if you are lucky.

The reef architecture is built upon a vibrant foundation of hard coral (Scleractinia) and soft coral (Alcyonacea), often adorned with sea anemones (Actiniaria) and various sponges (Porifera). Within these structures, you can find colourful reef fish, including butterflyfish (Chaetodon), angelfish (Pomacanthidae), and parrotfish (Calotomus).

For those interested in macro life, the area is a haven for nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani) and other unusual critters. Keep a close watch on the seabed and reef crevices for octopus (Octopus vulgaris), cuttlefish (Sepiidae), moray eels (Muraenidae), and various species of shrimp (Caridea).

Conditions can vary depending on the location and the lunar cycle. Around Angthong Marine Park, currents can become appreciable during the full moon, which is an important consideration for planning your dive.
