Aqua-Marina

Aqua-Marina has been operating in Tenerife since 1999, providing a professional base for divers of all levels. Located near the Oro Blanco hotel, the centre is easily accessible by foot or car, with free parking available nearby for those driving to the site.

The centre underwent a significant renovation in 2019, which expanded the facilities to include a new classroom, improved changing areas, and a dedicated workshop and Tec area. This modernised setup supports their dual focus on recreational diving and advanced technical training.

As a PADI 5 Star IDC centre, Aqua-Marina employs a multilingual team of certified instructors capable of teaching in English, French, German, and Spanish. This allows for seamless communication during training and briefings for international divers.

The centre has a long-standing commitment to technical diving, having operated as a PADI TecRec centre for over 10 years. They employ three full-time technical instructors to lead specialised training programmes.

The training catalogue is extensive, beginning with PADI Discover Scuba Diving for beginners and progressing through Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, and Rescue Diver certifications. Professional pathways are also available, including Divemaster and the Instructor Development Course (IDC) leading to Staff Instructor.

For those looking to specialise, the centre offers various PADI specialties such as Deep Diver and Wreck Diver. They also provide Nitrox training to extend bottom times on recreational dives.

Technical training is a core pillar of the centre, operating under the PADI TecRec programme. They teach a range of technical courses including Discover Tec, Tec 40, Tec 45, Tec 50, and Tec Sidemount, with plans to include Trimix certifications.

Daily boat trips are organised to cover the best dive sites around the Tenerife coastline. For those staying in the south, the centre provides a free pick-up service for these daily excursions.

The centre offers full equipment hire for divers who do not wish to travel with their own kit. This includes regulators, wetsuits, and fins, as well as torches for night dives.

On-site facilities include an expanded changing area with showers and dedicated storage space for client equipment. The technical side of the operation is supported by a combined workshop and Tec area to manage specialised kit and training needs.

The waters around Tenerife are home to a diverse array of large pelagics and reef fish. You may encounter dolphins (Delphinidae), various rays (Batoidea), and large schools of fish including sardines (Sardina pilchardus) and barracuda schools. During the winter months, from December to March, angel sharks (Squatina) can be observed.

On the walls and rocky formations, you will find various species of moray eels (Muraenidae) and groupers (Epinephelus). The seascape is decorated with black coral, sponges (Porifera), and various corals, providing a complex habitat for many species.

For macro enthusiasts, the area offers plenty to see, including nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), and various types of shrimp (Caridea). You might also spot octopus (Octopus vulgaris), trumpetfish (Aulostomidae), and colorful crustaceans like crabs (Brachyura).

Diving conditions vary by site, with Barranco del Agua known for its potential for strong currents, requiring advanced experience. Many of the shallower sites, such as Neptune’s Cave and the Palm Mar Wall, offer calmer conditions suitable for a wider range of certification levels.
