Paradise Divers

Paradise Divers is one of the longest-established diving operations in Tenerife, having been founded in 1989. Located in Callao Salvaje, the centre provides a reliable base for exploring the diverse marine environments of the southern Canary Islands.

The centre is a PADI 5 Star IDC facility, meaning it is fully equipped to handle everything from your first Scuba Diver course to professional instructor training. Whether you are looking for easy shore entries or more demanding boat dives, the operation is built around the island's unique volcanic landscape.

The team is led by experienced professionals, including a PADI Course Director, ensuring high standards across all training and guided dives. They are experienced in managing a wide variety of divers, from those completing their first certification to technical divers.

Communication is straightforward for international visitors, with the team speaking English, Spanish, Italian, and Dutch. Safety is a core focus, with staff trained in Emergency First Response and oxygen administration, and emergency kits maintained both in the centre and on the dive boat.

The training programme is extensive, covering the full spectrum of PADI certifications. You can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Scuba Diver and Open Water Diver courses, and progress through Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver, and eventually professional PADI Pro courses.

For those looking to specialise, the centre offers a wide array of PADI specialties, including Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Drift Diver, and Night Diver. Technical diving is also supported with Tec40, Tec45, and Tec50 training. Other niche skills like Sidemount, Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV), and Peak Performance Buoyancy are also taught on-site.

The centre operates a 7.5m RIB powered by a 250HP Honda engine. This vessel is used to access the various dive sites around the coast, providing a reliable platform for both recreational and specialty dives.

Nitrox is available on board, allowing you to extend your bottom time on many of the local sites. The boat is used for guided excursions, including night dives and drift dives where conditions allow.

On-site, the centre is well-equipped with Coltri compressors providing both air and Nitrox. This allows for convenient fills for divers looking to optimise their profiles.

A dedicated swimming pool is available for confined water training, making it an ideal location for completing course skills or conducting Scuba Reviews. For those requiring kit, a full range of recreational equipment is available for hire, including dive computers, surface marker buoys (SMB), and torches for night diving.

The volcanic reefs and rocky walls are home to a vast array of marine life. You will regularly encounter schools of fish, including Bogue (Boops boops), grunts, and various species of snapper. Large schools of barracuda and roncadores are also common sights around the deeper structures.

In the sandy areas and near the reef edges, look for Atlantic stingrays, bull rays, and the marbled electric rays. You may also spot green turtles (Chelonia mydas) and other sea turtles cruising the currents.

For macro enthusiasts, the crevices and sponges offer plenty to see, including octopus (Octopus vulgaris), cuttlefish (Sepiidae), and various species of shrimp (Caridea). Keep an eye out for the Canary Islands spiny lobster (Homaridae), moray eels (Muraenidae), and colorful nudibranchs.

Seasonally, you may have the opportunity to see angel sharks (Squatina) during their specific periods of activity.

Conditions vary significantly depending on the site chosen. While many shore dives are easy and suited for all levels, some sites like La Falla are known for strong currents, making them ideal for practicing drift diving.

Water movement can range from unlikely to moderate or even strong, so divers should always check the daily briefing. The volcanic topography creates many swim-throughs and caves, which can influence local water flow.
