Rand’eau Évasion

Rand'eau Évasion has been operating since 2009, serving as a dedicated dive resort in the heart of the Villefranche-sur-Mer bay. Positioned between Nice and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, the centre provides access to a diverse range of Mediterranean dive sites, from shallow reef flats to deeper structures.

The centre is a signatory of the Natura 2000 charter and actively works to offset its carbon emissions. This commitment to the local environment is reflected in how they manage their operations within this protected marine area.

The team is composed of three professional instructors, including State-certified (Breveté d'État) instructors. They are available to lead guided explorations or conduct formal training programmes for divers of all levels.

Instruction is provided in both French and English, making it accessible for international divers. Whether you are working through a certification or looking for a guided trip, the team focuses on small group outings to ensure professional oversight.

The centre offers a comprehensive curriculum through multiple certifying bodies, including PADI, SSI, CMAS, and the French ANMP/FFESSM systems. Beginners can start with Basic Diver, Scuba Diver, or Open Water Diver courses, while those following the French system can progress through PE12, Niveau 1, and beyond.

Advanced training is widely available, covering specialties such as Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Night Diving and Limited Visibility. For those looking to refine their skills, the centre offers courses in Perfect Buoyancy, Navigation, and Dry Suit Diving. Technical and safety training is also provided through Dive Stress & Rescue and React Right.

The centre operates two semi-rigid boats to reach the various sites around the bay. The Delfinu has a capacity for 18 divers, with a maximum limit of 24, while the Perle Jaune accommodates up to 12 divers.

Both vessels are used for daily departures, including a twilight dive session every Thursday. Nitrox is available on board for those using enriched air.

The shore-based facilities include a dedicated reception area, a storage space for kit, and sanitary facilities. For those needing to rent equipment, a full range is available, including wetsuits, masks, fins, and snorkels.

The centre's filling station is located just a short walk from the main premises. It is equipped with a Bauer compressor with a capacity of 15 m3/H, utilizing two 80-litre and two 50-litre banks charged to 330 Bars. The station features a 6-outlet ramp for 200-bar fills and two outlets for 300-bar fills. Nitrox up to 40% is available, alongside oxygen for decompression cylinders.

The marine life in the Villefranche bay is diverse, with groupers, moray eels, and various species of seabream inhabiting the rocky structures and caves. You will also find octopuses and brown meagre patrolling the reefs.

Macro life is present throughout the area, with various species of octopus providing interest for those with a keen eye for detail. The presence of flabelines adds splashes of colour to the seabed.

In the open water, you may encounter larger pelagics such as bonitos or great barracuda. If you are diving during the right season, there is the possibility of spotting an ocean sunfish.

The Rade de Villefranche is an exceptionally sheltered area, providing protection from most winds and currents. This makes it a reliable location for diving even when conditions elsewhere may be more challenging.

The best time to visit the region is between May and November.
