Blue Ocean Dive Dahab

Situated in the heart of Dahab, Blue Ocean Dive Dahab has been a fixture of the local diving community since 2008. Managed by Nicky and Tom Habeck, who have been diving these waters since 1996, the centre operates with a deep understanding of the Sinai Peninsula's unique underwater topography.

The centre is located at the Sheikh Ali Dahab Resort, providing a comfortable base for your stay. All major dive sites in the area are easily accessible by car from the centre, making it a practical choice for those looking to explore the diverse reefs and deep drop-offs of the region.

The centre functions as an SSI Dive Resort, catering to a wide spectrum of divers from those taking their first breaths underwater to seasoned technical specialists. The instruction is delivered in English and German, ensuring clear communication for international divers.

Beyond the professional training, the centre maintains a unique community atmosphere and acts as a sanctuary for the local stray cat population. This commitment to the local environment and community is a core part of the centre's identity.

The training programme is extensive, covering the full range of SSI certifications. Beginners can start with Basic Diver, Scuba Diver, or Open Water Diver, while those looking to refine their skills can opt for the Scuba Skills Update or Advanced Adventurer courses.

For technical divers, the centre offers a robust curriculum including SSI XR, Intro to Tech, Decompression Procedures, Extended Range Diver, and Trimix Diver programmes. They also provide TDI courses, making it a destination for those pursuing high-level technical qualifications.

The centre is fully equipped for both recreational and technical diving requirements. For those travelling light, a full range of rental kit is available, including regulators, wetsuits, and fins.

Technical divers will find the necessary support for advanced profiles, as the centre provides Nitrox and Trimix capabilities. Safety is a priority, with oxygen kits and regularly maintained equipment available on-site.

The reefs around Dahab are teeming with diverse marine life. You will encounter large schools of fusiliers, colourful reef fish, and various species of snapper and grouper (Epinephelus). Pelagic species, including various sharks and jacks, are frequently seen passing through the area.

The hard and soft corals provide a complex habitat for a vast array of inhabitants. Look for sea turtles, octopus (Octopus vulgaris), and various species of rays, including blue-spotted stingrays. You may also spot Napoleon wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus) and large barracudas patrolling the walls.

For macro enthusiasts, the area offers significant interest. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs, scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), and various species of shrimp. The crevices and coral heads are also home to garden eels (Gorgasia), seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), and stonefish (Synanceia).

Diving conditions in Dahab vary by site. Some locations, such as Umm Sid, can experience occasional currents that divers should be prepared for. Most reef sites offer varied profiles, from shallow lagoons to steep walls and deep drop-offs.
