Penguin Divers Club

Penguin Divers Club has been a fixture of the Dahab diving community since 1998. Located on El Mashraba Street, the centre is positioned to provide easy access to the most iconic sites in the South Sinai, ranging from shallow reef flats to deep, technical walls.

The centre operates with a focus on a methodical, practice-heavy approach to diving. This philosophy applies whether you are completing your first Open Water Diver course or working through advanced technical stages like Extended Range or Trimix.

The instructor team is multi-qualified, holding certifications with PADI, TDI, and SDI. This breadth of affiliation ensures that divers can progress through standard recreational pathways or move directly into technical training without changing centres.

All instruction and communication are conducted in English. The team is experienced in guiding divers through a wide variety of environments, from guided recreational reef dives to complex technical decompression dives.

The course catalogue is extensive, covering the entire progression of a diver's life. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or Bubblemaker programmes, moving through to Open Water Diver, Adventure Diver, and Advanced Open Water Diver certifications.

For those looking to professionalise, the centre offers Rescue Diver and Divemaster programmes. Technical training is a core strength, with courses including Intro to Tech, Decompression Procedures, Extended Range, Trimix Diver, and Advanced Trimix Diver. They also offer TDI Technical Sidemount training and DIR-specific pathways for Open Water and Advanced levels.

The centre provides full kit hire for those not travelling with their own equipment, including BCDs, regulators, computers, torches, wetsuits, masks, fins, and boots.

For technical divers, the facility supports advanced gas requirements. Nitrox 32 is available, and helium can be sourced for Trimix diving, with helium charged at a per-litre rate.

The reefs are teeming with life, from large pelagics to intricate reef fish. You will regularly see schools of fish, including snapper schools (Lutjanidae), jacks (Carangidae), and various species of trevally. Large pelagic fish, tuna (Thunnus), and occasional whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) move through the area, while whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus) and grey reef sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos) are frequently encountered.

The hard and soft coral structures provide a complex habitat for countless species. You will find various corals, gorgonian fans (Gorgonacea), and sponges (Porifera), alongside sea anemones (Actiniaria) and brain coral (Diploria). These structures support a massive variety of colourful reef fish such as butterflyfish (Chaetodon), angelfish (Pomacanthidae), and anthias (Anthias).

Macro life is abundant for those who look closely. Keep an eye out for nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), seahorses (Hippocampus), and various species of octopus (Octopus vulgaris). You may also spot garden eels (Heterocongrinae), scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), and various crustaceans including shrimp (Caridea).

Diving in Dahab typically involves exploring walls and reefs that can range from shallow flats to significant depths. While many sites are accessible from the shore, some excursions require travel to more remote locations.
