The atmosphere suits couples who want a full-service resort with no need to search for dinner every evening, but families are equally well catered for. Children from 4 to 12 have the CAMP Club, while the adult-only pool gives you somewhere to escape the more energetic side of the property. It is a sizeable resort rather than a small, personal hotel. That is precisely the point if you like choice, facilities and a day that can be as busy or as lazy as you decide.

You are in Cancún, Mexico, on Boulevard Kukulcan in the Zona Hotelera. The resort sits directly on the seafront, with access to a white-sand beach equipped with loungers, parasols, a beach bar and cabanas. Playa Ballenas is nearby, while San Miguelito Beach is about 0.4 miles away and Playa Marlin about 1 mile away.

The setting also gives you a few options beyond the resort gates. The Mayan Museum is around 0.9 miles away, and the El Rey Mayan ruins are about 1.8 miles away. Restaurants and bars are available in the surrounding hotel zone, although the all-inclusive plan gives you twelve restaurants on site, which may save you from getting dressed up and leaving the building when your legs have had enough for one day.

Cancún International Airport is about 7 miles away. The central bus station is roughly 6 miles away by direct distance, with the resort positioned in the hotel zone rather than in central Cancún.

The rooms are designed to give you somewhere properly usable to come back to, not merely a place to park a suitcase. Private balconies, air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and a coffee machine cover the basics of a hot, salty day. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, and daily housekeeping means you can leave the room in post-dive condition without having to apologise to anyone.

For a couple, the choice is mainly about the view and how much the balcony matters to you. Resort View keeps the outlook focused on the property, while Partial Ocean View, Ocean View and Ocean Front View move the Caribbean further into the evening. If the sea is part of the reason you are flying to Cancún, paying attention to the view category makes more sense than choosing by room name alone.

Travelling with family or another diver? The room options use either a super-king bed with a sofa bed or two double beds, depending on the selected room. The suites offer a little more room to spread out, which is useful when wet kit bags, clothes and ordinary holiday clutter all start competing for floor space. Beds are rated highly for comfort, a detail that becomes rather more important when an early start is waiting the next morning.

Pizza appears in two different settings: 750 Pizzería serves New York-style pizzas outdoors at lunch and dinner, while Pizzeria by La Isla works beside the pool with handmade pizzas and calzones cooked in a stone oven. Mo's Burgers & Shakes handles the American classics. For a drink with an ocean view, The Great Room - Lobby Bar focuses on cocktails using local and Latin American ingredients. Five outdoor water areas give you plenty of ways to waste time productively. The main Outdoor Pool and the Adult Pool both have swim-up bars and run from 7:00 to 20:00. The adult-only pool is the obvious choice when you want a quieter few hours; the children’s pool has a lifeguard and runs from 10:00 to 17:00. A whirlpool, lazy river and water park complete the aquatic side of the resort, with pool and beach towels available.

The beach itself is directly accessible, with loungers, parasols, a beach bar and cabanas. You can stay horizontal, move between sand and pool, or take the lazy river route when even swimming feels like unnecessary effort. Daily entertainment, evening entertainment, live music, karaoke, bingo and aerobics keep the resort moving when you want company rather than silence.

For something more structured, the fitness centre opens daily from 6:00 to 21:00 and includes treadmills, exercise bikes, ellipticals, rowing machines, stair machines, strength equipment and free weights. Yoga classes are also available. Families have the CAMP Club, an indoor and outdoor space for children aged 4 to 12 with daily crafts, dance, music and performance activities, as well as outdoor climbing and a zip wire.

Airport transfers are available through the hotel, with an alternative transport service also available by arrangement. The journey from Cancún International Airport is about 7 miles, so the transfer is short by resort standards. A concierge, tour desk, car hire service, currency exchange and luggage storage are available on site, with a 24-hour front desk for arrivals and late questions.

Check-in runs from 15:00 to 23:00 and requires photo identification and a credit card. Check-out is by 12:00. The minimum check-in age is 18. Children of any age are welcome, and cots or extra beds can be requested according to the selected accommodation.
