Located on the quiet eastern coast of Bali in Candidasa, Sianmay Candidasa Diving offers an authentic gateway to the island's most diverse underwater landscapes. The centre is founded and operated by Nengah Suwirta, a local instructor who brings deep regional knowledge to every excursion.

From the shallow, vibrant reefs of Padangbai to the deep walls and canyons of Nusa Penida, the centre provides access to a wide spectrum of diving environments. You can choose between relaxed reef explorations, drift dives, or more challenging encounters with large pelagics in the open ocean.

The centre is a family-run operation that prioritises a personal touch, ensuring that your diving experience feels tailored rather than transactional. This local approach means your guides possess an intimate understanding of the seasonal shifts and specific current patterns of the East Bali sites.

Safety and individual attention are central to their service, with a maximum of four divers per guide. This low ratio allows for better monitoring of buoyancy and comfort, which is particularly beneficial when navigating the more demanding sites around Nusa Penida or the currents of Gili Maimpang.

Sianmay offers a comprehensive range of PADI courses catering to every stage of a diver's development. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or work through the PADI Open Water Diver and PADI Scuba Diver programmes.

For those looking to advance their skills, the centre provides PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Specialty, and Night Specialty courses. They also offer more technical and professional training, including PADI Rescue Diver, Divemaster, and various specialties such as Wreck, Drift, Navigator, and Nitrox. Emergency First Response (EFR) training is also available to ensure you are prepared for any situation.

Excursions are conducted using traditional jukung boats, which provide a local and authentic way to reach the nearby reefs. These vessels are well-suited for the shorter trips to sites like Blue Lagoon or the coastal reefs of Amed and Tulamben.

Full equipment hire is available on-site for those not travelling with their own kit. This includes everything required for a complete dive, from regulators to wetsuits.

For those looking to extend their bottom time or manage nitrogen loading, Nitrox is available. The centre also provides essential amenities for your trips, including lunch, water, tea, coffee, and beach towels.

The region is a hotspot for diverse marine life, ranging from small macro creatures to large pelagics. On the reefs, you will find a wealth of colourful species including parrotfish, groupers, moray eels, and various types of scorpionfish. Turtles and reef sharks are common residents across many of the sites.

For macro enthusiasts, the area is exceptional. You can encounter nudibranchs, seahorses, pygmy seahorses, harlequin shrimps, and various species of shrimp and crabs. The presence of ghost pipefish and ornate ghost pipefish makes this a prime location for close-up photography.

During the peak season from June to October, the waters attract larger animals. You may encounter the ocean sunfish (Mola mola) at Crystal Bay, as well as manta rays and blue-spotted stingrays at Manta Point and Gili Maimpang. Thresher sharks and various species of reef sharks are also part of the seasonal visitors to the deeper walls.

Diving conditions in East Bali vary significantly depending on the chosen site. The coastal reefs of Amed and Blue Lagoon generally offer calm to gentle currents, making them suitable for most divers.

In contrast, sites like Gili Tapekong, Gili Maimpang, and the waters around Nusa Penida are known for moderate to very strong currents. Divers should be prepared for unpredictable conditions, including surge and occasional vertical currents, particularly during new moon phases.
