Cebu Fun Divers

Situated on the waterfront of Panagsama Beach, Cebu Fun Divers sits overlooking the Moalboal bay and the Tañon Strait. The location provides immediate access to the local house reef, where a vertical wall drops to depths of 70 metres just a short swim from the shore. This proximity allows for easy shore dives at any time of day or night.

Beyond the immediate coastline, the centre serves as a base for exploring the wider region. You can join multi-day dive safaris on dedicated outrigger boats, travelling between Moalboal and Sipalay to visit the best sites across Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, and Negros Island.

The centre operates with an international team of experienced instructors and divemasters. They provide instruction in both English and German, catering to a global community of divers.

As a PADI 5 Star centre, they manage a wide range of training programmes and are committed to marine conservation, including specific training for marine turtle first aid. For those looking for more structured accommodation, the centre is linked to the Cebu Seaview Dive Resort, located right on the water's edge.

The centre offers a comprehensive PADI curriculum, starting with Discover Scuba Diving and the Open Water Diver course. For those looking to advance their skills, they provide the Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Diver, and Rescue Diver courses.

Technical and specialty training is also available, including the PADI Nitrox Diver course, Divemaster training, and Instructor Development Courses (IDC). The centre also caters to those looking to refresh their skills through PADI Scuba ReActivate or those pursuing technical diving pathways.

The centre utilises outrigger safari boats for longer excursions and multi-day trips. These vessels are dedicated dive boats designed for navigating the tropical islands of the Visayas.

On safari trips, the boats function as a mobile base, offering accommodation on board or at local resorts. Meals provided include a mix of Filipino and Western dishes, with snacks, fruit, and refreshments like water and soft drinks available throughout the journey.

Full equipment hire is available on-site for divers who prefer not to travel with their own kit. This includes BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, fins, and masks. For night diving, torches are available for hire, and dive computers can be provided on a daily basis.

Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom times. For those requiring more gas, 15-litre cylinders are available as an optional supplement.

The local reefs are defined by vibrant hard corals and soft corals, with gorgonians and various sponges covering the walls. You will frequently encounter sea turtles, barracudas, and large schools of mackerel and jacks patrolling the blue.

In the deeper sections and along the walls, look for groupers, Napoleon wrasse, and various species of scorpionfish. Predatory fish such as thon and reef sharks are also part of the ecosystem, while spotted eagle rays and hammerhead sharks may occasionally pass through.

For macro enthusiasts, the area is a haven for nudibranchs, ghost pipefish (Solenostomidae), and various species of shrimp (Caridea). You may also find leaf fish, flamboyant cuttlefish (Sepiidae), and blue-ringed octopuses tucked into the reef structure.

Seasonal sightings include whale shark (Rhincodon typus) from October to June. Thresher sharks may also be observed depending on the conditions.

The sea is generally calm during the dry season from January to May. During the rainy season from June to September, you can expect sunny mornings followed by afternoon or evening showers.

While Cebu is often outside the main typhoon belt, the period from September to December can bring overcast skies and extended rain. Currents can be moderate at Pescador Island and can become quite strong at sites like Sunken Island.
