Savedra Dive Center

Savedra Dive Center is a modern, spacious facility situated in Moalboal, Cebu. As a PADI 5 Star IDC center and a TDI-accredited technical training facility, it serves as a significant hub for diver development in the Philippines.

The centre is ideally positioned for those wanting to experience the unique marine phenomena of the region. From the daily sardine runs just off the coast to the deep pinnacles of Pescador Island, the local sites offer a diverse range of environments for all experience levels.

The centre operates with an international, multilingual team of professionals, providing instruction in both English and German. This professional setup is designed to cater to a global community of divers, ensuring clear communication during both training and guided dives.

Through their professional training department, the Seven Seas Dive Academy, they also facilitate the path to becoming a professional, offering PADI Instructor Development Courses (IDC) and Assistant Instructor training. Their commitment to the local environment is evident through their active involvement in the Moalboal turtle conservation project and the offering of marine biology workshops.

The training catalogue is extensive, covering the full spectrum of PADI certifications. Beginners can start with the PADI Discover Scuba Diving or the PADI Scuba Diver course, progressing through Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver levels.

The area is famous for its massive biomass, particularly the daily sardine run. You will frequently encounter large schools of fusiliers, jacks, and barracudas. Large pelagics such as manta rays, mobula rays, and thresher sharks are also part of the local ecosystem.

Whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) are seen seasonally, specifically between February to March and in October. Other notable sightings include white tip sharks, blacktip reef sharks, and various species of turtles.

For macro enthusiasts, the reefs host a variety of interesting creatures. Look out for nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), frogfish, scorpionfish, and various species of shrimp and crabs. You may also find sea snakes (Hydrophiinae) and various species of gobies.

The reef structure itself is vibrant, featuring a mix of hard corals and soft corals that support a dense population of reef fish, including parrotfish, snapper, and various wrasse species.

Diving in the Moalboal area can involve strong currents, particularly at sites like Apo Island's Coconut Point and the Light House in Cabilao. Divers should be prepared for drift diving in these locations.

The best period for diving in this region is from October to May, which offers the most reliable conditions for visiting the area.
