Lanta Fun Divers

Lanta Fun Divers has been a fixture of the Koh Lanta diving community since 1999. Located in Saladan, the centre serves as a base for exploring the diverse marine ecosystems of the Andaman Sea, ranging from shallow reef flats to deep offshore canyons.

The operation is built around efficiency and comfort, using two high-speed offshore boats to minimise transit times to the most sought-after dive sites. This allows for more time in the water and less time commuting between the coast and the reefs.

The team consists of qualified, multilingual PADI instructors who lead dives in small groups. To ensure safety and personalised attention, the centre maintains a maximum ratio of four divers per guide.

Instruction is available in both English and German. Beyond recreational diving, the centre is equipped to train the next generation of professionals through the PADI Divemaster programme.

The centre offers a comprehensive curriculum of PADI courses. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Scuba Diver course, progressing through to Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver.

For those looking to specialise, the centre provides training for PADI Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Cavern Diver, and Perfect Buoyancy. They also offer the Enriched Air (Nitrox) course, Emergency First Responder, and Rescue Diver certifications, as well as the Divemaster programme.

The centre operates two offshore speedboats, each powered by twin 200hp Yamaha engines. These vessels are designed to handle the transit to offshore sites like Hin Daeng and Hin Muang efficiently, with a capacity of 16 guests per boat.

On board, you will find essential amenities including snacks, fruit, and lunch, alongside freshwater and toilets. For safety, the boats are equipped with marine radio, GPS, and a dedicated safety unit.

On-site facilities in Saladan include a dedicated shop, a training room, and shower facilities. The centre provides full equipment hire for those not travelling with their own kit, with all items regularly maintained.

A Bauer compressor is used on-site for cylinder fills. Enriched Air Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their bottom time or reduce nitrogen loading during multi-dive days.

The Andaman Sea provides a rich backdrop of hard corals, soft corals (Alcyonacea), and giant barrel sponges. You will frequently encounter large schools of fish, including yellowtail barracudas, trevally, and various snapper species.

Pelagic life is a highlight of the offshore dives, with the possibility of seeing a Whale shark (Rhincodon typus), Manta ray (Mobula alfredi), and various shark species such as the Leopard shark (Triakis semifasciata) and Blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus).

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to explore, including various Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani) species, Seahorse (Hippocampus kuda), and Ornate ghost pipefish (Solenostomus paradoxus). Look closely for Scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), various shrimps, and diverse macro critters tucked into the reef.

Other common residents include Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), Moray eel (Muraenidae), and many colourful reef fish like Butterflyfish (Chaetodon) and Angelfish (Pomacanthidae).

The primary diving season runs from 15 October to 30 April. During this period, the speedboats are able to navigate the routes to the offshore sites effectively.

Conditions at Hin Daeng and Hin Muang can involve strong currents, which is why these sites are generally recommended for advanced divers. Most other sites, such as Koh Haa and Koh Rok, offer more varied conditions suitable for a wider range of experience levels.
