Dawn Dives Academy

Located within the H10 Rubicón Horizons Collection in Playa Blanca, Dawn Dives Academy offers a gateway to the diverse underwater landscapes of Lanzarote. The island is defined by its striking volcanic topography, providing a backdrop of unique reefs and underwater structures that are accessible year-round.

The centre operates with a focus on clarity and individual pace, ensuring that whether you are completing your first Scuba Try Dive or training for an instructor rating, the instruction is methodical. The local waters offer a variety of environments, from tranquil coastal sites to more scenic excursions in the Chinijo Archipelago.

The academy is an SSI Instructor Training Center, meaning it is equipped to take divers through the entire continuum of training, including professional-level courses. The team is composed of five experienced instructors, including Master Instructors and an Instructor Trainer, ensuring high-level guidance for all skill levels.

Instruction is delivered in English, French, Spanish, and German. The centre maintains a guided ratio of a maximum of four divers per instructor, allowing for the personalised, unhurried approach they are known for.

As an SSI Instructor Training Center, the academy covers the full spectrum of SSI certifications. Beginners can start with a Scuba Try Dive or a Beginner Scuba Diving Mini Course, progressing through Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Course.

For more experienced divers, the centre offers specialised training including Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Night Diving & Limited Visibility. They also provide technical and skill-specific courses such as Search & Recovery, Navigation, DPV Diving, and Dry Suit Diving. Professional candidates can undertake the Divemaster and SSI Instructor Course on-site.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit for those not travelling with their own equipment, including BCDs, regulators, wetsuits, masks, fins, and dive computers.

For those looking to extend their bottom time or improve safety margins, Nitrox is available in both 12-litre and 15-litre cylinders. The facility is noted for its clean, well-maintained equipment and professional setup.

The local marine life is diverse, with many species inhabiting the volcanic reefs. You can regularly encounter rays, moray eels, octopus, and cuttlefish moving through the terrain.

The seabed and rocky outcrops are home to various fish species that navigate the complex volcanic structures. These habitats provide plenty of cover for resident fauna throughout the year.

Macro life enthusiasts can look for octopus and various smaller invertebrates amongst the crevices of the volcanic rock and sandy patches.

Lanzarote offers excellent diving conditions throughout the year. The area is known for its high visibility, which often ranges between 20 and 25 metres.

The waters are generally calm, though divers should be aware of the different environments offered by shore dives versus boat-based excursions to the archipelago.
