The volcanic reefs and rocky outcrops are home to a variety of resident species. You will often encounter different types of reef fish, including parrotfishes, angelfish, and damselfish (Pomacentridae). Schools of sardines (Sardina pilchardus) and jack mackerels move through the water, while larger predators like barracuda (Sphyraena) and tuna (Thunnus) are occasionally seen patrolling the area.

In the sandy patches and near the reef edges, you can find several species of rays, including stingrays (Myliobatiformes) and butterfly rays. Look closely near the seabed for the Atlantic angelshark (Squatina) or various other types of stingrays. Moray eels (Muraenidae) are frequently found sheltering within the volcanic crevices.

For those interested in macro life, the area offers plenty of interest. You can find various species of octopus (Octopoda), seahorses (Hippocampus), and cleaner shrimp (Lysmata). Nudibranchs and various crustaceans, such as spiny lobsters (Palinuridae) and spiny spider crabs (Maja squinado), inhabit the more complex sections of the reef.

The seascape itself is built upon a foundation of diverse life, featuring sponges (Porifera), anemones, and various species of orange corals and black coral (Antipatharia).
