Aora Exploration

Aora Exploration operates out of the port of Concarneau, providing access to some of the most striking marine environments in Brittany. The centre is centred around a sailing experience, allowing you to reach secluded spots in the Finistère region that are often inaccessible to day-trippers.

Operating from April to October, the centre focuses on ocean adventures that combine subaquatic exploration with nautical skill. Whether you are looking to train for a certification or simply want to explore the reefs and river systems of the coast, the base provides a direct link to the Brittany Riviera.

The team is composed of instructors trained in nautical, subaquatic, and well-being practices. They provide instruction for both scuba diving and freediving, following the FFESSM and ANMP frameworks.

Teaching is approached with a focus on pedagogy and safety, catering to those looking for structured certification or guided explorations. The staff is French-speaking, ensuring clear communication during technical briefings and training sessions.

The centre provides a range of certified training programmes through the FFESSM and ANMP. For those starting their journey, they offer Niveau 1 and introductory diving sessions.

As you progress, you can work towards Autonomy levels in both scuba diving and freediving (apnée). The curriculum is designed to build foundational skills and confidence in the water.

The centre operates the Amel Maramu, a 14-metre two-masted sailing yacht with a capacity for 12 people. This vessel serves as both a dive boat and a liveaboard, offering a way to stay close to the dive sites.

On board, you will find nine berths distributed across two double cabins and a spacious crew saloon. The yacht is fully equipped for extended stays, featuring a kitchen with a refrigerator, gas, induction hob, coffee machine, and kettle, along with two bathrooms. It also provides leisure amenities like a library and board games for time spent between dives.

Full equipment hire is available for divers who prefer not to travel with their own kit. This includes the essential components required for a complete diving setup.

For those undertaking training, the centre offers advantageous rates on accommodation aboard the sailing yacht, allowing you to live where you learn.

The marine life in this region is diverse, with the possibility of encountering dolphins during your excursions. The clear waters of the Glénan Archipelago provide an excellent backdrop for observing local species.

In the various river and coastal habitats, the ecosystem supports a variety of marine life that changes with the tides and seasons. The area is well-suited for those who enjoy observing the natural movement of the Brittany coastline.

The primary season for diving and sailing activities is from April to October. During these months, the weather and sea conditions are most favourable for exploring the archipelago and the coastal rivers.
