For those who prefer to use their own gear, individual items such as wetsuits can also be hired. Safety is a priority on-site, with oxygen administration equipment available at the centre.

Dive sites with Centre Haliotis Plongée

An Auter offers a complex underwater landscape of labyrinths, overhangs, canyons, and drop-offs at depths between 5 and 18 metres. It is a fantastic site for observing sponges and gorgonians.

La Truie provides a mix of caves, rock piles, and drop-offs suitable for all levels. You will find it very fishy, with plenty of sea bass and various crustaceans hiding in the rocks.

The wreck of the Nann Smith lies at approximately 25 metres and is recommended for N2 divers and above. You can explore the boilers, the keel, and the propeller area while looking for Saint-Pierre and large conger eels.

Pontoporos is a deeper wreck site reaching 38 metres, ideal for N2 divers and above. The site features large boilers and a propulsion propeller resting on the seabed, often surrounded by large conger eels and schools of whiting.

Marine life around Bretagne

The rocky reefs and canyons are home to a rich variety of fixed life. You will encounter gorgonians, sea fans, and various sponges, including Clione sponges and elephant ear sponges. Sea anemones are also common throughout the rocky structures.

In the seagrass meadows and sandy bottoms, such as at the Ilots de Téviec, you can find sea spiders, whiting, pollack, red mullet, and various species of sea stars. The eelgrass beds provide a vital habitat for much of the local marine life.

For those interested in macro life and crustaceans, the area is highly rewarding. You can spot lobsters, spiny lobsters, edible crabs, and conger eels tucked into the crevices. Other frequent sightings include sea bass, mullet, and various species of wrasse.

Diving conditions

Dive sites are selected at the last minute based on the prevailing swell, wind, and tide, as well as the experience level of the divers. This ensures the safest and most enjoyable conditions for each trip.

The centre operates primarily during the warmer months from April to October, when the local conditions are most favourable for diving in the Brittany region.
