Diving Corsica Sports

Located in the heart of the Balagne region, Diving Corsica Sports is situated on the Sant'Ambroggio marina between Calvi, Algajola, and L’Île-Rousse. The centre has been a fixture of the local diving community since 1979, offering a professional base for exploring the Corsican seabed.

From this central position, you can access more than 30 different dive sites, ranging from rocky reefs to historic wrecks. The club operates seasonally from May through to the end of September, providing a reliable gateway to the Mediterranean's underwater landscapes.

The centre is run by a professional team of state-qualified instructors, ensuring a high standard of safety and instruction. They focus on small group sizes, maintaining a ratio of one guide per diver to provide personalised attention during both training and exploration dives.

The team provides a range of services for different types of divers, from those looking for their first experience through a Discover Scuba Diving programme to more advanced students working towards specific certifications. For those staying locally, the club offers the convenience of leaving your personal kit on-site during your week of diving.

Diving Corsica Sports offers a comprehensive range of training programmes through both PADI and ANMP affiliations. Beginners can start with a Discovery dive or progress through the PADI Scuba Diver course.

For those seeking formal qualifications, the centre provides the ANMP Niveau 1 and PE-12, as well as the Bronze and Silver Diver certifications. More advanced divers can undertake the PADI Advanced course to further their technical skills.

The centre operates two semi-rigid Capelli boats, each measuring 7.50 metres and powered by 300 CV engines. These vessels have a capacity for up to 23 divers, making them well-suited for both small groups and larger excursions.

On board, you will find amenities including water, tea, coffee, and light refreshments. The boats are used for a variety of trips, including explorations of the local reefs and wrecks around the Balagne coast.

The shore-based facilities are designed for efficiency and comfort, featuring three showers, toilets, rinsing tanks, and an area to dry your kit. For those who prefer to use their own equipment, the centre provides cylinders and weights.

The club maintains a high standard of equipment, using the Aqualung brand for much of its rental stock, including specialised kit for children. On-site technical support is provided by a BAUER VERTICUS 40m3 compressor and a system of eight 330b buffer cylinders.

The marine life around the Balagne coast is diverse, with regular sightings of sea bream, wrasses, salema porgy, and damselfish. You can often find scorpionfish and groupers stationed near the reefs, while amberjack and great barracuda patrol the more open areas.

Macro life is well-represented, with starfish and various species of scorpionfish providing interest for those who enjoy close-up observation. You may also encounter various species of sea bream and sars moving through the rocky terrain.

In the wider waters, dolphins are occasionally spotted, adding to the experience of the local pelagics.

The best time to dive in this region is between May and September. During this period, visibility is typically excellent, ranging from 10 to 40 metres.
