Located in Sharm El Sheikh, Blue Lagoon provides access to some of the most renowned diving in the Red Sea. Whether you are looking to explore the deep structure of a WWII wreck or drift along a vibrant coral reef, the centre is positioned to facilitate both technical and recreational diving.

The centre operates with a focus on marine conservation and safety, ensuring that every excursion is managed according to international standards. From the sandy flats of White Island to the deep walls of Tiran, the variety of environments available makes it a versatile base for any diver.

Blue Lagoon is an SSI affiliated centre, providing a structured environment for both training and guided explorations. The team is composed of highly qualified instructors dedicated to maintaining high safety standards, including mandatory safety briefings and the availability of oxygen on every trip.

The centre follows strict protocols for diver assessment. All divers intending to join boat excursions are required to complete a check dive from the shore to ensure competency and safety. For those returning to the water after a long hiatus, refresher programmes and specific check dives are available to ensure you are ready for the conditions.

The centre offers a complete curriculum of SSI courses, beginning with the SSI Try Scuba Program and the SSI Basic Diver Program for those new to the water. For those seeking certification, the SSI Open Water Diver and SSI Scuba Diver courses form the foundation of a diving career.

Advanced training is extensive, including the SSI Advanced Open Water Diver course, SSI Deep Diving, and the SSI Wreck Diver specialty. For divers looking to refine their skills or move into technical territory, the centre provides SSI Sidemount Diver, SSI Night Diver, and the SSI Diver Stress & Rescue course. Nitrox training is also available, with both dry theory and courses including practical dives.

Daily boat excursions are a core part of the experience, with transfers to the boats included for all participants. These trips allow you to reach the offshore reefs and wrecks that define the Sharm El Sheikh diving scene.

On board, the centre provides lunch and non-alcoholic beverages to keep you fuelled between dives. Nitrox is available for use, allowing for extended bottom times on multi-dive days.

A full range of equipment is available for hire, including BCDs, regulators, computers, wetsuits, fins, and masks. For those looking for more specialised configurations, sidemount kit and torches for night diving are also provided.

Cylinders are available in 12L and 15L volumes, with Nitrox options provided for those who require it. The centre also offers 15L air cylinders for standard dives.

The reefs are teeming with large pelagics and colourful reef fish. You can expect to see great barracuda (Sphyraena barracuda), giant trevally, and various species of tuna (Thunnus). Schools of snapper (Lutjanus) and fusiliers are common, alongside the occasional appearance of sharks, including reef sharks (Carcharhinus) and whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus).

Macro life and smaller inhabitants provide endless interest for observant divers. Look for octopus (Octopus vulgaris), various scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), and different types of rays, including blue spotted stingrays. Garden eels (Gorgasia) and various species of shrimp and crabs inhabit the sandy patches between the corals.

The permanent residents of the reef include a variety of corals, such as hard corals (Scleractinia), soft corals (Alcyonacea), and large gorgonian fans (Gorgoniidae). Sea anemones (Actiniaria) host clownfish (Amphiprion), while sea turtles (Cheloniidae) are frequently spotted patrolling the reef edges.

Diving in this region is characterised by the diverse topography of the Red Sea, from shallow reef flats to deep wrecks and walls. Divers should be prepared for varying conditions depending on the site, particularly when visiting offshore wrecks or the currents associated with Tiran Island.
