Camel Dive Club

Located in the heart of Naama Bay, Sharm El Sheikh, Camel Dive Club has been a fixture of the local diving community since 1986. As an SSI Diamond Instructor Training Center, it provides a high level of professional expertise for those looking to progress from their first breaths underwater to professional instructor status.

The centre operates with a focus on quality and environmental stewardship, holding the distinction of being the first Green Fins Golden member in Egypt. This commitment to sustainability is paired with a well-organised, calm atmosphere that makes it suitable for both those seeking a relaxed holiday and those on a serious training programme.

The centre is an established SSI Instructor Training Center, meaning it is equipped to handle everything from basic entry-level courses to the most advanced professional training. This includes the Instructor Training Course (ITC), covering both Assistant Instructor (AI) and Instructor Educator (IE) levels.

Instruction is delivered in small, manageable groups, with a strict limit of six divers per guide. This ratio ensures that whether you are working on your buoyancy or exploring a deep wreck, you receive the attention required for safe and effective diving. The centre also provides specialised programmes for children and is fully equipped to support divers with reduced mobility.

The course catalogue is extensive, covering the full spectrum of SSI certifications. Beginners can start with Try Scuba or the SSI Basic Diver and Scuba Diver courses, progressing through to Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water.

For more experienced divers, there is a wide array of specialty training, including Deep Diving, Wreck Diver, and Advanced Wreck Diver. The centre also offers technical and skill-based specialties such as Enriched Air / Nitrox, Perfect Buoyancy, Navigation, and the Stress & Rescue Specialty. Professional divers can undertake the Divemaster and Instructor training programmes on-site.

The centre provides full equipment hire for those not travelling with their own kit. On-site facilities include a dedicated training pool for skills practice and air-conditioned classrooms for theoretical work.

For those looking to extend their bottom time, Nitrox is available for all certified divers. The centre is also well-prepared for night diving, with the necessary equipment and organisation to support excursions after sunset.

The surrounding waters are home to a vast array of pelagic species. You may encounter various sharks, including the Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus), Grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos), and Blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus). Large schools of fish such as tuna (Thunnus), jacks (Carangidae), and various snappers (Lutjanus) are common, alongside eagle rays (Aetobatus) and occasional sightings of larger pelagics.

The reef structures themselves are built upon a rich foundation of hard coral (Scleractinia) and soft corals (Alcyonacea). You will see diverse gorgonian fans, sea fans (Gorgoniidae), and various sponges (Porifera) decorating the walls. These habitats support a massive variety of reef fish, including butterflyfish (Chaetodon), parrotfish (Calotomus), and various species of grouper (Epinephelus).

Macro life enthusiasts will find plenty to observe among the corals and sandy patches. The area hosts various nudibranchs, octopuses (Octopus vulgaris), and scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae). Look closely for garden eels (Gorgasia), seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), and various species of shrimp and crabs tucked into the reef crevices.

Diving in the area is possible year-round. The region is known for having clear visibility and varying currents; specifically, Ras Mohammed and the Strait of Tiran can experience strong currents in certain sections.

While the sea can occasionally be affected by swell or wind, the primary consideration for divers is the current, which can be significant depending on the specific site and weather conditions.
