Gypsea Divers

Gypsea Divers is a family-run dive centre situated at the Nacional Beach Club Hotel in Mahahual, Mexico. It holds a unique position in the local diving community as the only centre in the Mahahual and Costa Maya area that is owned and managed exclusively by women.

The centre provides a base for both novice divers looking to start their journey and more experienced divers seeking exploration trips. Whether you are interested in the technical aspects of scuba or the discipline of freediving, the operation is built around a professional and inclusive atmosphere.

The team operates with a focus on safety and high standards of instruction. As a PADI affiliated centre, they provide structured training programmes for a variety of skill levels.

Gypsea Divers offers a comprehensive range of PADI certifications. This includes foundational training such as the Open Water Diver course, as well as progression through the various levels of scuba diving.

The reefs in this area are built upon a foundation of hard corals, sponges, and sea anemones (Actiniaria). You will find a diverse range of mollusks and crustaceans living amongst the reef structure.

Large pelagics and reef residents are a regular feature of the local waters. You can encounter Nurse shark (Ginglymostoma cirratum), Eagle ray (Aetobatus), and various species of Jack (Carangidae). Sea turtles, including the Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) and Hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), are also frequently sighted.

Smaller inhabitants add significant interest to the dive, with Moray eel (Muraenidae) often found near ledges and Garden eel (Gorgasia) inhabiting the sandy patches. Spiny lobster (Palinuridae) and various other fish species move through the coral formations and seagrass meadows.
