Acuaticaribe Scuba Dive Center

Located in the heart of the Mexican Caribbean, Acuaticaribe Scuba Dive Center operates from two strategic bases: Playa del Carmen and the Marina Fonatour in Cozumel. This dual location allows you to choose between the vibrant reef systems of Cozumel and the unique freshwater cave systems of the mainland.

With over a decade of experience, the centre has established itself as a specialist in both recreational and technical diving. You can expect a focus on small, personalised groups, whether you are out for a single exploration dive or working through a technical syllabus.

The instructor team is highly qualified, holding certifications ranging from PADI professional levels to TDI technical instructor credentials. This expertise allows the centre to cater to a wide spectrum of divers, from those taking their very first breaths underwater to advanced technical divers.

Instruction is conducted in English, Spanish, and French, ensuring clear communication for international divers. The centre maintains a focus on safety and marine conservation across all its activities, including night dives and specialised wreck or cave explorations.

The training programme is extensive, covering the full PADI progression from Open Water Diver through to Advanced Open Water Diver and Divemaster. For those looking to specialise, the centre offers PADI Wreck Diver and Cavern specialties.

For technical divers, Acuaticaribe provides specialized TDI training, including Cavern and Full Cave Diver courses. This makes the centre a destination for those looking to progress into overhead environments and more complex decompression profiles.

For those who prefer to use their own equipment, a full range of rental kit is available, including fins, masks, and wetsuits. For night dives, the centre provides torches to ensure you are fully equipped for low-light exploration.

The marine life around the Cozumel reefs and the mainland cenotes is diverse. You can regularly encounter octopus, spiny lobster, and various species of crabs. Large pelagics such as bull sharks are also present in the region.

In the deeper waters and reef structures, look for barracudas, green moray eels, and angelfish. You may also spot giant king crabs and fireworms among the crevices.

Between May and September, the area becomes a prime location for whale shark encounters, providing a unique opportunity to dive with these massive filter feeders.

Diving in the region is highly seasonal for certain species, particularly the whale sharks, who are most frequently encountered from May to September.

Depending on whether you choose the Cozumel reefs or the mainland cenotes, you will experience very different environments, from oceanic currents to the still, sheltered waters of the cave systems.
