Silent World Divers

Established in 1980, Silent World Divers is a long-standing family business located in Puerto Vallarta. They have spent over four decades navigating the waters of the Banderas Bay, building a reputation based on professional honesty and a deep commitment to marine conservation.

Operating with both PADI and SSI affiliations, the centre caters to everyone from those taking their first breaths underwater to seasoned technical divers. Whether you are looking for a relaxed reef exploration or a challenging night dive, the team focuses on a personalised approach that treats every diver like a member of the family.

The team is composed of certified PADI and SSI instructors, some of whom have been with the centre since 1990. This level of continuity ensures a stable, highly experienced environment for both training and guided excursions.

Safety is managed through a strict diver-to-guide ratio, with a maximum of four divers per guide. The staff is bilingual, providing instruction and guidance in both English and Spanish.

Beyond recreational diving, the centre is dedicated to the protection of the local ecosystem. Their mission integrates educational components into their dives, ensuring that divers leave with a better understanding of the marine life they encounter.

Silent World Divers offers a comprehensive range of PADI and SSI certifications. Beginners can start with the Open Water Diver course, while those looking to progress can enrol in the Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, or Divemaster programmes.

Specialty training is extensive, covering areas such as Nitrox, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Night Diver. For divers looking to refine their skills, they offer Peak Performance Buoyancy, Underwater Navigation, and Multilevel and Computer courses. They also provide specialised training in Underwater Videography, Underwater Photography, and Digital Underwater Photography.

Safety and first aid training is also a core part of their offering, including Emergency First Response (EFR), CPR, and First Aid courses.

Daily departures begin around 09:00, with divers requested to meet 30 minutes before departure. For morning trips, a light lunch including a ham and cheese baguette, seasonal fruits, water, and sodas is provided on board. Afternoon and night trips are catered with granola bars and drinks.

The boats are equipped with essential safety gear, including radios, first aid kits, and emergency oxygen. For those looking to extend their bottom time, Nitrox is available on board.

The centre provides full equipment hire for those not travelling with their own kit. This includes everything required for a complete dive setup.

Safety equipment is a priority on-site, with oxygen and a full first aid kit always accessible. The boats are non-smoking and do not allow alcoholic beverages or flammable liquids on board.

The marine life around Puerto Vallarta is diverse, with sightings of oceanic manta rays, stingrays, and various species of turtles. You can regularly encounter schools of Jack (Carangidae), snappers (Lutjanus), and grunts. Larger pelagics such as manta rays (Mobula alfredi) and various species of shark may also be seen.

In the reef habitats, look for colourful residents including angelfish (Pomacanthidae), butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and parrotfish (Calotomus). The rocky structures and wrecks are often home to groupers (Epinephelus), octopuses, and various species of moray eel (Muraenidae).

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to observe, including seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), nudibranchs, and various species of shrimp (Caridea). Crabs (Brachyura) and other crustaceans like spiny lobster (Palinuridae) are also common amongst the reef architecture.

The seabed is decorated with a variety of fixed life, including various corals, sponges (Porifera), and sea fans (Gorgoniidae), which provide the essential framework for the local ecosystem.

The centre operates daily excursions, including night dives. While specific swell and current data are not provided, the variety of sites—from shallow reefs to deep volcanic pinnacles—allows for a range of conditions depending on the chosen location.
