MexiDivers is a local, family-run operation situated on Tulum Beach, providing access to some of the most diverse diving environments in Mexico. From the intricate cavern systems of the Yucatan peninsula to the vibrant walls of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the centre offers a gateway to both freshwater and saltwater ecosystems.

For over two decades, the team has focused on a relaxed, local style of diving that prioritises small groups and safe planning. Their presence in the community is deeply rooted in environmental stewardship, having supported coral restoration efforts through Oceanus since 2016, with approximately 3,400 colonies planted in the Tulum area.

The team consists of experienced PADI-certified instructors who have been guiding in the region for more than 20 years. They operate with a low diver-to-guide ratio, ensuring that groups are kept to a maximum of four divers per guide for a more personal and controlled experience.

As a family-run business, the approach is grounded in respect for the environment, particularly when entering sensitive cenote ecosystems. This ethos extends to their handling of marine life, such as their non-feeding, ethical approach to bull shark encounters.

The centre provides a comprehensive range of PADI training, catering to everyone from those taking their first breaths underwater to professional candidates. Their course catalogue includes Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver, and Nitrox certifications.

For divers looking to progress their skills or career, they offer the PADI Rescue Diver and Divemaster programmes. All training is conducted with a focus on safety and the specific environmental needs of the local dive sites.

MexiDivers is the only dive centre in Tulum that operates its own fleet, allowing for efficient daily departures. This independence ensures they can manage logistics effectively for both local cenote trips and longer excursions to Cozumel.

For trips to Cozumel, the centre provides full-day logistics including transport, snacks, and lunch. For those heading to the bull shark sites in Playa del Carmen, they manage the complete transport and logistics from their shop.

A full range of rental kit is available on-site for divers who do not wish to travel with their own equipment. This includes everything needed for a complete dive setup.

For cenote packages, transportation from the Tulum Beach shop is included as part of the service. The centre also offers Dive & Stay packages that combine accommodation with diving activities.

The reef systems and walls are home to a wide variety of tropical life. You can expect to see Hawksbill turtles, Green sea turtles, and various species of reef fish, including royal angelfish, blue tangs, and French angelfish. Larger residents include Nurse shark (Ginglymostoma cirratum), stingrays, and various species of moray eel (Muraenidae).

In the cenotes, the fauna is more specialised. You may encounter small freshwater fish and cave-adapted crustaceans in the limestone passages. At Casa Cenote, a resident crocodile named Panchito lives in the lagoon.

Macro life and interesting residents include various crabs (Brachyura), lobsters (Homaridae), and even freshwater crabs within the cenote systems. In the seagrass and reef areas, you might spot southern stingrays (Hypanus americanus) and various species of parrotfish (Calotomus).

Seasonal encounters include bull sharks from November to February, and spotted eagle rays during January and February.

Cenote diving generally offers very calm, still water with no current, making it an ideal environment for cavern exploration and photography. The water is typically clear, though conditions can vary depending on the specific site and recent rainfall.

Ocean diving on the reef or during Cozumel drift dives can involve more movement, though the centre's expertise in managing these environments ensures a controlled experience. Seasonal bull shark observations in Playa del Carmen are static, where divers observe the animals in a respectful, non-intrusive manner.
