Bleu Marine

Bleu Marine Plongée is situated in the heart of the Gulf of Porto, an area classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Operating from May to October, the centre provides access to some of the most protected and diverse marine environments on the west coast of Corsica.

The club is positioned on the right bank of the Porto harbour, just a short walk from the main quay. This central location allows for a seamless transition from the centre to the dive boats, which are moored directly in front of the club.

The centre operates as a human-scale club, focusing on professional instruction and a shared passion for the Mediterranean. They offer a range of activities including introductory dives for children from age 8, guided explorations, and snorkeling.

All instruction and guiding follow FFESSM standards. The team provides professional supervision for all levels, from those taking their first breaths underwater to more experienced divers looking to explore the local reefs and caves.

The centre provides a full progression of FFESSM certifications. This includes the entry-level Niveau 1, followed by Niveau 2 and Niveau 3 for those looking to advance their technical skills and depth limits.

In addition to formal certification courses, the centre offers introductory dives (baptêmes) and guided exploration dives for divers looking to experience the local sites without a formal course.

The centre utilises semi-rigid boats for its excursions. These vessels are moored directly in front of the club, which allows for efficient equipment loading and a straightforward boarding process for all divers.

A dedicated shore-based facility is available, including a shaded area to facilitate getting ready for dives. The centre provides a full range of rental kit, including wetsuits, regulators, BCDs, cylinders, fins, and masks, all maintained to FFESSM, CMAS, and PADI standards.

For those interested in surface activities, the centre also provides snorkeling equipment and underwater scooters for both equipped and unequipped divers.

The marine life at these sites is diverse, with large fish frequently seen around the drop-offs and rocky plateaus. You can expect to encounter Groupers (Epinephelus), common dentex, large barracudas, and amberjack.

Fixed life provides a vibrant backdrop to the dives, particularly around the gorgonians and the red coral found in the caves. The rocky reefs are home to various colourful fish and species like the dusky moray eel.

For those interested in macro life, the crevices and rock faces host a variety of smaller inhabitants. You can find various species of shrimp (Caridea), snails, and other small crustaceans tucked away in the reef structure.

The best period for diving in this region is from May to October. During this window, the waters around the Gulf of Porto offer the most reliable conditions for both beginners and advanced divers.

While the area is known for its diverse topography, including calm bays like L’Anse et la Pointe de Ficajola, the sites near the reserves can offer more varied underwater landscapes.
