Armor Plongee

Located in the heart of the Baie de Saint-Brieuc, Armor Plongée operates from the Pôle Plongée building on the esplanade of the Armor port in Saint-Quay-Portrieux. The centre is ideally positioned for exploring the diverse marine environments of the Côtes d'Armor, from shallow reef flats to deeper offshore sites.

Since its establishment in 2016, the club has focused on professional service and a passion for the local marine environment. The centre is open from the beginning of April until mid-November, providing access to the coastal waters during the primary diving season.

The centre is led by Jean-Pierre, a DEJEPS-qualified instructor with over 33 years of diving experience and more than 3,000 logged dives. His expertise extends to training and examining future diving instructors, and he serves as a member of the ENVSN expert network for the Ministry of Sports.

Teaching is conducted primarily in French. The centre provides a structured environment for all ages, including dedicated programmes for children, and follows the FFESSM curriculum for its certifications.

Armor Plongée provides a comprehensive range of FFESSM certifications. For beginners, the programme includes Niveau 1, which covers the essential skills through six sessions and includes the provision of all necessary equipment.

For those looking to progress, the centre offers Niveau 2, which involves ten sea dives and six theoretical lessons. The curriculum also covers the Bronze, Silver, and Gold diver levels, as well as specialised training in breath-hold diving (Apnée).

The Jambo III is an 8.6-metre Sea Rib's semi-rigid powered by a 325 CV Suzuki engine. The vessel is homologated to carry up to 18 divers and is designed for efficient transfers to the local dive sites.

On board, the boat is equipped with a raised cylinder rack and two stainless steel ladders to facilitate easy entry and exit for divers. For safety and navigation, the vessel carries a VHF ASN, a GPS chart reader, a sonar, a first aid kit, and oxygen.

The centre offers full equipment hire for divers who do not wish to carry their own kit. The facilities include a dedicated equipment room and a changing room area. For post-dive rinsing, divers can use the sanitary facilities located at the port.

Safety is a priority on shore, with oxygen available on-site and on the boat. The centre's location provides easy access, with free parking available directly in front of the premises and the boarding pontoon just a one-minute walk away.

The centre operates from early April until 15 November. During the summer months, specifically July and August, conditions are particularly suitable for introductory dives and baptisms in the sea.
