Aquapolynésie has been a cornerstone of diving in French Polynesia since 1996, establishing itself as a specialist in liveaboard cruises. Based around the Fakarava atoll, the centre focuses on providing access to remote, wild locations that are often out of reach for standard day-trip operators.

What sets these expeditions apart is the ability to embark and disembark directly at Fakarava, allowing for seamless transitions between the atoll and the open sea. By utilising dedicated catamarans, the centre ensures that you are positioned perfectly to reach the most exceptional spots at the best times.

With nearly three decades of experience in the region, the team is deeply familiar with the specific nuances of the Fakarava atoll. The operation is designed to be intimate and convivial, maintaining a strict limit of eight divers per outing to ensure a personalised experience.

Communication is straightforward, with services and guidance available in both French and English. This bilingual approach ensures that all technical briefings and dive planning are clearly understood by every member of the buddy pair.

The diving is conducted aboard two luxury Fountaine Pajot catamarans, the Aquatiki II and Aquatiki III. These vessels are specifically equipped for diving expeditions and have a maximum capacity of 8 divers. They feature a spacious cockpit protected from the sun, a large dining table, and an American-style kitchen.

Onboard, you will find amenities designed for comfort between dives, including a vast lounge with a video area and library, as well as an outdoor cocktail bar equipped with a fridge and ice machine. For those staying on board, the catamarans offer spacious cabins in standard double, twin, and VIP configurations, with the VIP cabins including Hi-Fi DVD setups.

Nitrox is available on board to support extended bottom times during your cruises. The vessels also feature a plancha-grill for dining and a comfortable social area to relax after a day on the water.

The waters around Fakarava are teeming with large pelagics and diverse reef life. You can expect to encounter various species of Shark (Selachimorpha), including Blacktip shark (Carcharhinus limbatus), Grey reef shark (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos), and Whitetip reef shark (Triaenodon obesus). Large schools of Barracuda (Sphyraena) and Tuna (Thunnus) are also common visitors to these currents.

In the shallower reef areas, the biodiversity is immense. You will see plenty of colorful fish, including Parrotfish (Calotomus), surgeonfish, and various reef fish. Schools of Jack (Carangidae), red snappers, and perch schools frequently move through the water columns, while Napoleon wrasse (Cheilinus undulatus) and groupers often patrol the reef structures.

Other notable residents include Manta ray (Mobula alfredi), Eagle ray (Aetobatus), and various types of Ray (Batoidea). You may also spot Dolphin (Delphinidae) and various species of tropical fish inhabiting the coral formations.
