Pirates Dive Club

Pirates Dive Club is an established diving operation situated in the heart of Sharm El Sheikh, operating from within the Falcon Hills Hotel. Since its founding in 2006 by Moody and Gharib, the club has built a reputation for reliable service and a professional approach to both recreational and specialty diving.

The centre is ideally positioned for divers looking to explore the diverse marine environments of the Sinai Peninsula. Whether you are looking for the sheltered reefs of Ras Um Sid or the challenging depths of the SS Thistlegorm, the club provides the logistical support needed for a successful trip.

The team is led by experienced professionals, with instructors carrying over 30 years of diving expertise. This depth of knowledge is central to the club's teaching philosophy, ensuring that both novice and advanced divers receive precise guidance.

Operating with five instructors, the centre manages a wide range of diver needs, from those taking their first breaths underwater to Divemasters and Assistant Instructors in training. The club maintains dual affiliation with PADI and SSI, allowing for flexibility in certification and course selection.

Pirates Dive Club offers a comprehensive curriculum through both PADI and SSI. Beginners can start with the SSI Scuba Diver or PADI Open Water Course, with subsequent progression available through Advanced Open Water and specialty training.

For those looking to refine specific skills, the catalogue includes specialties such as PADI Wreck, PADI Drift, and SSI Sidemount Diver. The centre also supports professional paths, offering training for Divemaster, Assistant Instructor, and instructor-level preparation.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit, including wetsuits, masks, snorkels, and fins. For those requiring more specialised equipment, full kit hire is available, which includes a dive computer to ensure safe profile management.

Nitrox is available on-site for divers looking to extend their bottom time. All excursions include your choice of cylinder volumes, ranging from 6L up to 15L, as well as weights and weight belts.

The reefs are teeming with life, from large schools of fusilier and snappers to various species of parrotfish (Calotomus) and butterflyfish (Chaetodon). You will frequently encounter groupers (Epinephelus), various species of eels (Anguilliformes), and diverse reef fish moving amongst the coral.

Pelagic species are a highlight of the area, with sightings of tuna (Thunnus), jacks (Carangidae), and various sharks, including whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus) and grey reef sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos). Large schools of trevallies and occasional sightings of rays add to the excitement of a drift dive.

The hard and soft coral structures provide the backbone of the ecosystem, featuring gorgonian fans, sea fans (Gorgoniidae), and various sponges (Porifera). These habitats support a vast array of smaller inhabitants, including anemonefish (Amphiprion) and various crustaceans.

For macro enthusiasts, the environment offers plenty to discover, such as scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), octopuses (Octopus vulgaris), and various species of nudibranchs. Keep a close eye on the reef for garden eels (Gorgasia), seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), and various species of shrimp and crabs.

Diving in the area is characterised by diverse environments, from protected bays like Ras Um Sid, which offers calm waters for night diving, to the more open conditions found at the Tiran reefs. Divers should be prepared for varying conditions depending on whether they are diving from the boat or from the shore.
