Playa Scuba Dive Center

Playa Scuba Dive Center is established in the Solidaridad region, providing access to some of Mexico's most iconic diving environments. From the crystal-clear freshwater systems of the Mayan cenotes to the vibrant coral reefs of Cozumel and Playa del Carmen, the area offers a diverse range of underwater landscapes.

The centre is positioned to serve both those looking for their first breath underwater and experienced divers seeking technical challenges in cave or cavern environments. Whether you are drifting along a reef or exploring a swim-through, the focus remains on professional guidance and local expertise.

The centre is led by Klaus Bosbach, a PADI and SSI Master Instructor with over 25 years of experience. His background includes specialist expertise as a cave guide, which informs the technical standard of the instruction provided on-site.

The diving team is composed of experienced instructors, each with a minimum of 12 years of diving experience. This ensures a high level of competence and safety during every outing, whether you are completing a certification or an exploration dive.

Instruction is delivered in English, Spanish, and German. To maintain a controlled environment, the centre operates with a maximum of four divers per guide, ensuring you receive individual attention during your training or guided dives.

Playa Scuba Dive Center offers a comprehensive range of PADI and SSI courses. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or work towards their Open Water Diver certification, with Open Water Referral options available for those continuing their training elsewhere.

For more advanced divers, the centre provides Advanced Open Water, Nitrox, and Rescue Diver courses. Specialist training is also available, including Cavern Diver for those interested in the local freshwater systems, as well as Divemaster and Instructor Development Courses for those pursuing a professional career.

Various specialty courses are offered to tailor your skills to specific environments, such as night diving or deeper reef explorations.

The centre provides full equipment hire for divers who prefer not to carry their own kit. This includes everything required for a complete dive, from regulators to BCDs and fins.

Nitrox is available for divers looking to extend their no-decompression limits. For those planning night dives, torches and appropriate lighting equipment are available through the centre's rental service.

The reefs are home to a steady population of various reef fish. During the months of June to September, you have the opportunity to encounter whale sharks during seasonal migrations.

In certain areas, bull sharks may also be sighted. The marine life is diverse, ranging from large pelagics to the smaller inhabitants of the reef structure.

Macro life and smaller organisms inhabit the crevices of the coral and the sandy bottom, providing plenty for observant divers to discover during their explorations.

Diving in the region is influenced by the seasonal presence of whale sharks between June and September. The variety of sites, from open ocean reefs to sheltered cenotes, allows for different types of diving experiences depending on the conditions.
