Last Frontier Dive

Last Frontier Dive is an established PADI 5-Star IDC centre situated in San Juan, Siquijor. Having operated in the Philippines for 28 years, the centre has developed a deep understanding of the local marine environments and the specific requirements of both novice and experienced divers.

The centre focuses on a personal approach to diving, maintaining a strict ratio of no more than four divers per guide. This ensures that whether you are exploring a reef flat or undertaking professional training, the experience remains controlled and attentive.

As a 5-Star IDC centre, the team is equipped to handle a wide range of training requirements, from initial certifications to professional development. The instructors are experienced in guiding small groups, ensuring that safety and environmental stewardship remain the priority on every outing.

The training programme covers the entire PADI spectrum. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the Open Water Diver course, while those looking to progress can enrol in the Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, or Divemaster programmes.

Specialised skills training is also available, including the Peak Performance Buoyancy course and the Enriched Air Nitrox course. For those needing to refresh their skills, the Scuba Review is an option, alongside Emergency First Response training.

The centre provides a full range of equipment hire for divers who prefer not to carry their own kit. This includes regulators, BCDs, wetsuits, fins, and masks.

For those interested in extending their bottom time or managing nitrogen loading more effectively, Enriched Air Nitrox is available on-site. Night diving is also supported with the availability of torches for evening excursions.

The waters around Siquijor are home to a diverse array of reef life. You can regularly observe various reef fish, turtles, and larger pelagic fish moving through the area. The presence of sharks, including whitetip reef sharks (Triaenodon obesus), blacktip reef sharks, and bamboo sharks (Chiloscyllium), adds to the interest of the local dives.

For those who enjoy watching larger species, the area sees sightings of Manta ray (Mobula alfredi) and Eagle ray (Aetobatus). You may also encounter various jacks (Carangidae), mackerels, and bigmouth mackerel, alongside other schooling fish.

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to explore on the reef. The environment supports a wide range of smaller life, including nudibranchs, seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), and various species of octopus and cuttlefish (Sepiidae). Look closely for frogfish (Antennarius), scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae), mantis shrimp, and cleaner shrimp (Lysmata).

Invertebrates and other small creatures are also common, such as crabs (Brachyura), hermit crabs, lobsters (Homaridae), and various species of squid (Sepioteuthis sepioidea). The reef structure itself is enriched by sea fans (Gorgoniidae) and other corals that provide a home for the local marine life.
