Instruction is delivered in several languages, including English, Italian, German, Spanish, and French. For those undertaking training, the centre maintains strict instructor-to-student ratios, limiting groups to a maximum of 4 divers for Open Water courses and a maximum of 2 for Advanced training. This ensures that every student receives the individual attention required to build confidence and technical skill.

Carabao Diving Resort is an SSI affiliated centre offering a comprehensive curriculum of courses. For those new to the water, the programme begins with Try Scuba and Basic Diver training. From there, you can progress through the standard SSI certifications, including Open Water Diver and Advanced Adventurer.

For divers looking to refine their skills or move into professional territory, the centre provides Rescue Diver, Divemaster, and professional-level training. The teaching approach is tailored to the individual, with specific emphasis on small group sizes during the advanced stages of training to ensure precision and safety.

The centre provides a full range of rental kit for those who do not wish to travel with their own equipment. This includes regulators, BCDs, and fins, allowing you to find the right fit for your dives. For night dives, torches are available to ensure you can explore the reefs after dark.

The reefs around Koh Tao are vibrant, characterised by extensive hard corals (Scleractinia) and soft corals (Alcyonacea). You will find a rich tapestry of sea fans (Gorgoniidae), sea whips, and various sponges (Porifera) covering the rockwork. Large colonies of bubble coral and staghorn corals provide the essential structure for a massive variety of reef fish.

Pelagic life is a regular highlight, with large schools of fish including jackfish, snapper (Lutjanus), and various species of trevallies. You may encounter bigeye trevally (Caranx), yellowtail barracudas, and even the occasional bull shark (Carcharhinus leucas) or blacktip reef shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus). During the green season at the end of the year, whale sharks (Rhincodon typus) are known to visit the area.

In the shallower reef flats and sandy areas, you are likely to encounter green turtles (Chelonia mydas) and hawksbill turtles (Eretmochelys imbricata). Look closely for nudibranchs, various species of shrimp (Caridea), and colourful anemones (Actiniaria) inhabited by clownfish (Amphiprion). You might also spot seahorses (Hippocampus kuda), pipefish, and various scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae) amongst the coral gardens.

The best time to visit for visibility is between March and September. For those specifically seeking larger pelagic species like whale sharks, the green season at the end of the year is the most reliable period.

While many sites like Shark Bay offer calm, shallow conditions suitable for beginners, other locations like the pinnacles can involve more complex environments. Divers should always check the specific site requirements, as some locations are better suited to those with advanced certifications.
