Dive Point

Located in the heart of Mae Haad, Dive Point is a long-standing international diving school with over 25 years of experience on Koh Tao. The centre is situated within walking distance of the ferry pier, local shops, and cafes, making it easy to settle in before your first boat trip.

As an SSI affiliated centre, the school focuses on a personalised approach to diving. They operate with a fixed weekly schedule of dive sites, ensuring you know exactly where you are heading each day of your stay.

The team at Dive Point is composed of experienced professionals from various countries, providing an international atmosphere. All instruction and management are conducted in English, ensuring clear communication for all divers regardless of their background.

The school prioritises a relaxed learning environment and maintains a focus on small groups to ensure high safety standards. Whether you are a beginner or a professional candidate, the instructors provide structured, high-standard support throughout your training.

Dive Point offers a comprehensive range of SSI training programmes. For those new to the water, they provide Discover Scuba Diving and Open Water Diver courses, including a specific programme that features six dives instead of the standard four.

Experienced divers can further their skills with Peak Performance Buoyancy, Deep Diving, Wreck Diving, and Enriched Air Nitrox certifications. The centre also provides specialized training such as Stress & Rescue Diver and First Aid & Oxygen Provider. For those pursuing a career in diving, Divemaster training is available on-site.

The MS Dive Point is a custom-built, three-deck diving boat designed specifically for excursions around the island. It features a large sun deck for relaxing between dives and a comfortable lounge area for when you are not on the water.

The vessel is equipped with modern safety equipment and provides a stable platform for your dives. For those looking to extend their bottom time, Enriched Air Nitrox is available on board.

The waters around Koh Tao are home to a diverse array of pelagics and reef fish. You can regularly encounter sea turtles, great barracudas (Sphyraena barracuda), and various species of rays, including blue-spotted stingrays. Large schools of fish, such as trevallies and snappers, often move through the area, alongside yellowtail barracudas and bigeye trevallies (Caranx).

The reef structure itself is vibrant, featuring soft corals (Alcyonacea), hard corals (Scleractinia), and various sponges (Porifera). You will see plenty of colourful reef fish such as butterflyfish (Chaetodon), angelfish (Pomacanthidae), and parrotfish (Calotomus) navigating through the coral heads and sea fans.

For those interested in macro life, the area offers plenty of subjects for close-up observation. Look out for nudibranchs, various crustaceans, and octopus (Octopus vulgaris). You may also find smaller creatures like shrimp (Caridea), crabs (Brachyura), and various species of scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae) tucked into the reef.

Seasonal sightings can include whale sharks (Rhincodon typus), though these depend entirely on luck and current conditions.
