Ocean Sound Dive + Yoga

Ocean Sound Dive + Yoga has been a fixture of the Koh Tao diving community since 2011. Located in a region known for its calm waters and diverse marine life, the centre provides a structured environment for both new divers and those looking to advance their skills.

Beyond standard scuba instruction, the centre integrates a professional, fully equipped yoga studio into its programme. This allows you to balance your diving schedule with certified yoga instruction, making it a unique choice for those looking to combine technical training with wellness.

The team consists of 10 professional, full-time instructors who manage all training and guided dives. To ensure close supervision and personalised attention, the centre maintains a ratio of four divers per guide.

Instruction is conducted in several languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, Dutch, Portuguese, and Danish. The centre is also an LGBTQ+ friendly establishment, welcoming all divers into their community.

Ocean Sound Dive + Yoga offers a comprehensive range of PADI courses. Beginners can start with Try Diving or the Open Water Diver course, with the Advanced Open Water Diver course available for those looking to deepen their experience.

For more specialised training, the centre provides PADI Rescue Diver, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, Nitrox, and Night Diver specialty courses. They also offer Scuba Reviews for divers looking to refresh their skills.

The centre operates a custom-made dive vessel designed for comfort and utility. On board, you will find a sundeck, a dry zone, toilets, and freshwater showers to rinse off after your dives.

The boat is equipped to handle morning and afternoon dive trips, as well as scheduled night dives on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. For those looking to explore further, the centre also organises multi-day safaris to the Similan and Surin Islands, departing from Khao Lak or Phuket.

The centre provides full kit hire, which includes a dive computer for every student. All equipment is new and maintained by an on-site Aqualung technician.

Shore-based facilities include an air-conditioned classroom for theory work. Nitrox is available for divers, and the centre maintains an affiliation with SSS for medical support and hyperbaric chamber access.

The local reefs are home to a vast array of tropical fish and colourful corals. You will regularly encounter parrotfish (Calotomus), butterflyfish (Chaetodon), and various species of snapper (Lutjanus), alongside schools of fusiliers (Caesio) and trevallies.

Larger pelagic species and reef residents include reef sharks (Carcharhinus), turtles (Cheloniidae), and various types of rays. Keep an eye out for groupers (Epinephelus), barracudas, and occasionally a whale shark (Rhincodon typus).

For macro enthusiasts, the area offers incredible variety. You can find nudibranchs (Chromodoris willani), various types of shrimp (Caridea), octopus (Octopus vulgaris), and scorpionfish (Scorpaenidae) tucked into the reef structure.

The seabed and coral gardens are decorated with soft corals (Alcyonacea), sponges (Porifera), and sea fans (Gorgoniidae), providing a complex habitat for crabs (Brachyura), hermit crabs, and various colourful sea anemones (Actiniaria).

The waters around Koh Tao are generally calm, providing an ideal environment for both training and recreational diving. While November and July can experience rain, these periods typically do not interfere with the diving schedule.

Night diving is possible on specific days of the week, allowing you to experience the bioluminescence and nocturnal activity of the reef.
