Dive Cabo

Located in the heart of Cabo San Lucas, Dive Cabo serves as a gateway to the diverse marine ecosystems of the Baja peninsula. The centre operates out of the marina at Hotel Tesoro, providing easy access to the rich waters where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez.

From the shallow, protected reefs of the Corridor to the high-adrenaline drift dives at the offshore seamounts, the range of sites is extensive. You can choose between calm, sheltered environments for skill practice or head out to the deep blue for encounters with large pelagics.

As a PADI 5 Star IDC Center, Dive Cabo is a professional hub for both recreational divers and aspiring instructors. They host the PADI IDC Staff Instructor Course, making them a key training destination in the region.

The team focuses on small groups and professional guidance, ensuring that every diver, from a first-time Discover Scuba Diver to a seasoned professional, receives appropriate attention. They also operate a dedicated training facility known as 'Klubhaus', which features a custom-built dive pool and classroom for controlled training sessions.

The training programme is comprehensive, covering the entire PADI spectrum. Beginners can start with Discover Scuba Diving or the PADI Open Water Diver course, while more experienced divers can progress through the Advanced Open Water Diver, Rescue Diver, and Divemaster programmes.

Specialty courses are also widely available, including PADI Enriched Air Nitrox, PADI Navigation Course, PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy, and PADI Deep Diver. For those pursuing a professional career, the centre offers the PADI IDC and the IDC Staff Instructor Course.

The centre operates a variety of vessels to suit different diving needs, including the Sunshine, a 40ft boat, and the Pacifica, a 26ft boat, alongside panga-style boats for more specific trips.

On board, you can expect snacks and water to be provided. For those looking to capture their underwater experience, the centre also provides photos and videos during the dives.

A full range of rental kit is available on-site, including BCDs, wetsuits, regulators, masks, and fins. This allows you to travel light if you are only visiting for a few dives.

For certified divers, Nitrox is available to extend your bottom time. The centre also provides dive computers on board to assist with your dive profiles.

The local waters are teeming with life, from the shallow reef flats to the deep walls. You will regularly encounter sea turtles (Cheloniidae), groupers (Epinephelus), and various species of rays. Schools of snapper, jacks (Carangidae), and tuna (Thunnus) are common sights across the different dive sites.

During the winter months, you may encounter Humpback whales. If you visit between November and April, there is a chance to see the Whale shark (Rhincodon typus), while mobula rays are most frequent from April to July. In the summer, seahorses can be found along the rocky reefs.

Macro life is abundant for those who look closely. You can find octopus, moray eels, scorpionfish, pufferfish, and nudibranchs tucked into the crevices of the reef. Lobsters and various species of anemones also inhabit the rocky structures.

The diving environment varies significantly depending on the site. The Gordo Banks area is known for strong currents, making it a destination for advanced divers comfortable with drift diving in open water.

In contrast, sites like Chileno Bay, Gavilanes, and Pelican Rock offer much calmer, protected conditions, making them ideal for beginners or those looking for a relaxed dive experience.
