Dream Divers Resort suits you if the useful parts of a diving holiday matter more than polished ceremony: a beachfront base, a pool, a restaurant and a dive centre built into the same address.

The resort has been operating since 1996 and was renovated in 2014. Its position on Gili Trawangan's main street puts you close to the island's evening life as well as the sea. You can finish a dive, shower, eat a burger and still be near the action without turning the return journey into another expedition.

Your hotel is in Gili Trawangan, Indonesia, directly on the island's main beach and a few minutes south of the main harbour when you are facing the shore. The sand is close enough to make footwear feel like an unnecessary administrative burden, and the sea is part of the everyday geography rather than a distant excursion.

Trawangan Harbour and the art market are about a five-minute walk away. Marine Walk Gili Trawangan is roughly 100 feet from the resort, while Gili Trawangan Viewpoint Entry is about 1,450 feet away. For food beyond the hotel's own restaurant, Pesona Restaurant & Sheesha Lounge is around 20 feet away, Burgers House about 50 feet away and several cafés sit within roughly 800 feet.

Lombok International Airport is about 30 miles away. The island setting means your airport journey includes the transfer to Gili Trawangan; the hotel can arrange an airport shuttle, privately or as a shared service, through its team.

The room choice is fairly straightforward. For two divers who prefer separate beds, the twin arrangement does exactly what it needs to do; for a couple, the king-bed rooms are the natural fit. If the view matters more than garden space, choose the double room with its balcony and sea view. It is the one to pick when you would rather look towards the water than at the contents of your kit bag.

Every room gives you somewhere to sit and work, with a desk, seating area and wardrobe. A terrace or balcony opens towards the garden, or towards the sea in the relevant category. Air conditioning and a fan cover the sticky return from the shore, while the fridge and tea- and coffee-making facilities deal with the practical business of cold water and a quiet drink before dinner.

Bathrooms are private and come with a shower or bath, towels, toiletries and a hairdryer. The rooms also include a safe, bottled water and a flat-screen television. Upper floors are reached by stairs only, so keep that in mind if your knees have already done enough work for one day.

The hotel's food centrepiece is The Burgerhouse, an international restaurant and bar built around burgers. It is a sensible answer to the post-dive question of what can be eaten with minimal ceremony. The wider menu also includes Indonesian dishes and Italian pasta, giving you something beyond the house speciality when several days of burgers would be taking the joke too far.

There is one named restaurant and a bar attached to the Burger House operation, with a coffee house on site as well. Room service, breakfast in your room, a minibar and wine or champagne are available, while special-diet menus can be arranged. The restaurant's sea view gives you somewhere to sit with a drink and watch the island's evening activity begin.

Breakfast comes in continental, vegetarian, Asian and American styles, with a breakfast-to-go option. Breakfast arrangements differ according to the accommodation booking, so check whether yours includes it rather than assuming that the first meal of the day has already been dealt with.

A single outdoor swimming pool gives you the main non-diving place to cool down without walking anywhere. Sun loungers, beach chairs, umbrellas and pool or beach towels are available, so you can claim a patch of shade, let the day slow down and avoid turning every hour ashore into another organised activity.

The beach is directly outside, and the resort also offers snorkelling and on-site water-sports facilities. Horse riding is available too. These are options for the days when you want to stay active but not necessarily commit to another full underwater programme.

For a quieter recovery, massages can be arranged and laundry is available. Daily housekeeping, luggage storage and room service help keep the practical jobs from taking over the evening, which is useful when your main ambition is a shower, clean clothes and a chair that does not move.

Dreams Divers Gili Trawangan, the hotel's own dive centre, affiliated with SSI, English-speaking team. You can attend the briefing at the resort, put on your wetsuit there and cross the beach to the boat, with your equipment assembled and labelled for you. Morning briefings start at 09:30 and afternoon briefings at 13:30, giving you a clear rhythm for the day.

Two boats serve the operation, and groups are limited to four divers per instructor or dive guide. The team speaks English, German, French, Italian and Spanish, while the local sites are selected according to weather and tide conditions.

More than 20 dive sites are within a 20-minute boat ride, including Shark Point and Manta Point. The centre also operates from Gili Air, but the practical advantage here is simpler: your room, the briefing and the beach departure are all in the same place.

Check-in runs from 14:00 to 22:00, with check-out by 11:00. The minimum age for check-in is 18. Express check-in and check-out are available, and luggage storage gives you somewhere to leave your bags when your travel plans and room times do not line up neatly.

An airport shuttle can be arranged through the hotel, either privately or as a shared transfer. Lombok International Airport is about 30 miles away. The hotel is on an island, so allow for the full transfer rather than judging the journey by the airport distance alone.

Children of any age are welcome, although cots and extra beds are not available. Smoking is not allowed, pets are not allowed and cash is not accepted. Wi-Fi is free in the public areas, while the rooms provide air conditioning, a fan, a fridge and tea- and coffee-making facilities.

The diving and snorkelling operation places specific emphasis on environmental impact alongside safety and quality. That makes the ecological approach practical rather than decorative: it is tied to the activities that take you onto the reef and into the water.

The resort's integrated setting also keeps the diving day compact, with the beach, boats and accommodation close together. For you, that means less logistical fuss before entering the water and a shorter route back after the dive.
