Teluk Karang Dive & Spa Resort

English is spoken by the hotel team, alongside Indonesian, so you can deal with the practicalities of a diving holiday without resorting to underwater hand signals at reception. Teluk Karang Dive & Spa Resort is a beachfront resort in Tejakula, with a garden, an infinity-style pool and the sea doing most of the scenery work.

The tone is geared towards a mixture of diving, recovery and uncomplicated time outdoors. You can start with breakfast, spend the warmest part of the day by the water or at the spa, and return to air conditioning, a minibar and a proper bathroom. Families are welcome, while couples have the direct beach setting and Sunset Bar for the slower end of the day.

The resort sits directly on the beach in Tejakula, on Bali's north coast, with black sand, sun loungers and parasols. Pungut Beach is nearby, while Palisan Beach is about 1 mile away on foot. You are in a coastal setting rather than in the middle of a town, so the hotel itself matters more here than a busy street outside the gate.

Singaraja is around 30 minutes away. For food beyond the resort, Warung 5one and Bakso Mie Ayam Rojo are about half a mile away, with Warung D Rama roughly three-quarters of a mile away. The surrounding area also gives you options for land days: Kintamani is about 14 miles away, while Tegallalang Rice Terrace is about 28 miles away.

The useful choice is less about collecting room names and more about deciding how much space your group actually needs. A bungalow or superior villa suits two people who want a separate base after diving, while the two-bedroom bungalow gives a small family or group more room to spread out. For a larger party, the private-pool villa designed for up to six people has three bathrooms, which is a practical advantage when everyone returns from the beach at once.

There is one named bar: Sunset Bar, a beachfront bar built around cocktails and the evening light. That is the natural place for the first drink while you are still deciding whether the day counts as finished. A snack bar, on-site coffee house, fruit and minibar service add smaller options when a full meal feels like an unnecessarily ambitious project.

Room service is available, and special-diet menus can be arranged. The restaurant also has an outdoor dining area, so you can keep the sea view in the conversation rather than staring at four walls while discussing tomorrow's plans.

The Main Pool is the obvious place for a non-diving swim, with the sun terrace, garden, beach chairs and umbrellas close at hand. The black-sand beach is directly accessible from the resort, giving you a choice between pool water and the sea without having to organise a separate outing. Beach and pool towels are available.

Karang Spa offers massages, facials and body treatments, including body wraps. Beauty services also cover manicures, pedicures, haircuts, foot baths and several massage options. Yoga classes are available when you want to stretch without turning recovery into another endurance sport.

For a more active day, the resort offers kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling, cycling, hiking and boat excursions. You can also book walking tours, local-culture classes, cooking classes and themed dinner nights. Excursions include Lovina Dolphin Tour, Gitgit Waterfall and Ulun Danu Beratan Temple, while wildlife observation and cultural outings give non-diving companions something to do beyond guarding your camera batteries.

Ngurah Rai International Airport is about 44 miles away. An airport shuttle is available, and the resort also offers a shuttle service; arrange the transfer with the hotel before travelling.
