Blue Lagoon Dive Resort

Blue Lagoon Dive Resort is situated in Puerto Galera, a location set within a designated biosphere reserve. The resort is positioned directly on the beach at Small La Laguna, just a short distance from the main centre of Sabang. This location provides easy access to some of the most diverse reef systems in the region.

The centre is well-equipped for a variety of diving styles, from relaxed reef exploration to more advanced technical pursuits. With a focus on personalised instruction and environmental respect, it serves as a professional hub for those looking to explore the waters of the Philippines.

The diving programme is led by Alain Carolus, an MF2 and SDI/TDI Trainer, supported by a professional francophone team. The instructors are qualified across multiple certifying bodies, including FFESSM, SDI, TDI, PADI, and CMAS, ensuring a broad range of training options.

Instruction is delivered in French, English, German, and Spanish. To ensure safety and a high quality of learning, the centre maintains a ratio of maximum four divers per guide.

The centre offers a comprehensive curriculum covering all levels of certification. You can train through the FFESSM system (Niveau 1, 2, and 3) or follow international SDI and PADI pathways, ranging from Bubblemaker and Open Water Diver to Advanced Open Water.

For more experienced divers, the training extends into technical and professional realms. This includes SDI/TDI Sidemount, Solo Diver, and Divemaster courses, as well as advanced TDI training such as Advance Nitrox & Decompression Procedure & Extended Range. The centre also provides instructor training through the SDI IDC and IE programmes, including Course Director levels.

The resort utilises speed boats and Banka boats to reach the dive sites. These vessels facilitate multiple departures each day, allowing you to access sites like Fantasea or Ernest Point quickly. For those heading to Verde Island, the centre organises full-day trips that include lunch on the island.

The shore-based facilities are robust, featuring four compressors and a significant cylinder stock including 12-litre and 15-litre aluminium cylinders. A Nitrox membrane and an oxygen booster are available on-site for use.

For divers requiring rental kit, the centre provides complete equipment sets using brands such as Aqualung and Apeks. Note that full kit hire, excluding a dive computer, is available specifically when booking a 10-dive pack.

The reefs are defined by a dense architecture of hard corals (Scleractinia), soft corals (Alcyonacea), whip corals, and various gorgonians. You will find extensive coverage of brain corals, staghorn corals, and large sponges (Porifera) providing habitat for a vast array of reef fish.

Large pelagics and reef residents are common, including Tuna (Thunnus), carangidae, and various species of snapper (Lutjanus). You may also encounter Green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), hawksbill turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), and various rays (Batoidea) patrolling the seabed.

Macro enthusiasts will find plenty to observe, from Mandarinfish (Synchiropus) and various Nudibranch (Chromodoris willani) to Ornate ghost pipefish (Solenostomus) and Pygmy seahorse (Hippocampus bargibanti). The crevices are home to many crustaceans, including mantis shrimp, cleaner shrimp (Lysmata), and various species of shrimp (Caridea).

Other notable inhabitants include the Peacock mantis shrimp, various species of octopus (Octopus vulgaris), and several types of pipefish. Keep an eye out for the humphead parrotfish, which can be seen during several months of the year.

Diving conditions in Puerto Galera vary depending on the specific site. While many reef locations are peaceful, certain sites like the Canyon are known for having moderate to strong currents.

The area is accessible for diving for eight months of the year, with conditions generally remaining stable throughout these months.
